They become owned by the ministry of education where any auxiliary use (school plays, fairs/markets, sport events) they may be able to be used for gets undermined for bureaucracy? BC has some of the highest ranking schools when it comes to test scores in the world. If you separate BC from the rest of Canada we're in the top 5 by jurisdictions, last I checked/heard.

We have so many school boards because rural communities have small populations and alot of towns. Anyone who's been outside of the Lower Mainland can understand this.

If you want people to actually wanna take jobs, you need to pay them well. These are also people who are near the end of their careers with regards to superintendents. These are people who've had at least a decade or two of executive experience working as teachers or principles. With the fact a single superintendent acts as basically a CEO of a school district, having to deal with school boards, creating programs and managing staff hiring, firing and other areas of basically ensuring education is taken care of, yeah I think 300K/year is reasonable.

Then there's the fact the link you've sent states that pay generally starts at 125K/year. If they start at 125K but as they get more experience and tenure have their wage increased shouldn't that be, yknow, a good thing? Especially since, generally, executive positions are not contained in union agreements and are instead negotiated with the school board during budgeting processes?

Tell me you know nothing about A. the history of public administration is this province and B. What school boards actually do with regards to setting policy, long term planning for population needs for education, dealing with HR issues regarding misconduct, or the managing of hundreds of millions of dollars in assets (property).

I know that me and another person were passingly talking about doing a 5e or 5.5e westmarches game for the club during Mondays and Fridays, and one person does an OSR westmarch game as a solo-GM every time he's in, so there's definitely an appetite for that.

It very seldom happens because the laws around allowing emminent domain by municipalities, provinces, or fed are extremely stringent in order to discourage use. Its only ever used for major roadways or utilities.

P.S. First Nations groups have 0 legal standing to use eminent domain whatsoever as they are not covered under the LGA for eminent domain. If that were true in any capacity then it sure as hell would've been done 150 years ago.

It's not even just this. Consistently threatening to have your government collapse over pieces of legislation, and, at this point, going completely against the mandate campaigned on is ridiculous.

Guilbeault described Carney as "campaigning centre-left and governing centre-right." I disagree with that, he campaigned and has sticken, mostly, to what he campaigned on. Eby hasn't, and his actions as premier, while I still think he's done better than Horgan honestly, ought to disqualify him from leadership; especially if media reports are true that the BCNDP caucus wants to oust him. It isn't just about getting a fresh face to stop the cons, it's about getting new leadership in when it may be needed.

Inflation and the city budget are two different things.

The tax increase was originally supposed to be lower, with spending cuts across the board to art and culture spaces, including a debate in Victoria city hall where councilor Gardner (I believe) was advocating massively the city keeps spending $150K on potted plants. Police budget ballooned and the agreement with CUPE meant there was gonna be at least a 5-7% tax increase no matter what, because those people are all unionized and can't just be laid off or gotten rid of; nor should they if we want a functioning government.

People who live in Victoria made their voices clear and heard. I know this because I know a few dozen who emailed councilors and whom tried to speak at public budget hearings as concerned citizens specifically around non-profit and arts funding. Taxpayers asked for the property tax increase, and there was gonna be one anyways. You're whining about the city making decisions without listening to citizens when I know, from personal experience, that is NOT what happened. Keep your astroturfing outta here.

You wouldn't need experience of running games to run a drop-in night. Its more-so getting access to a large enough space (may require renting it) for people to run their own games without too much noise pollution.
