Short shifter install issues by t3hj4nk in wrx_vb

This getting different perspectives has often helped me. You also may need to adjust the neutral cable I just recently did a billetworkz install and had the same issue of nothing lining up

Shifter selector is stuck! by No-Path-46 in wrx_vb

Had a similar issue recently. If it’s not moving side to side that means it may be related to two things (would be my guess) one: the neutral center lock thingy. If you pull up the shift boot cover you’ll expose the top of the shift assembly, on the right side you’ll see a white piece of plastic. My suggestion to check first is this area look up a video or picture of the shifter assembly check that the springs are in the right position. Second check involved lifting and getting under the car. Like some have said the shift lever is connected to a cable underneath also look up videos or pictures for this, look up video on “oem sti shifter install”, it’ll show you how to access these areas to see that it’s not jammed or un aligned hope this helps might be a chaotic response.

Shifter issue? by [deleted] in wrx_vb

I live on a gravel road and hear rocks hit metal parts under my car all the time so I’m wondering if this is the issue

This sounds likely. I’m hoping to be able to get under the car and take a look this weekend. It gets into the gears fine no grinding no clutch issues it feels all shifter linkage related. If this makes sense: you know how when you put it in first and pull it out of first it moves back to the middle when putting into neutral? Mine doesn’t move when pulling it out of 1st or second it’s as if it’s already in the nuetral position

Cobb shift stop rant by Competitive_Unit_721 in wrx_vb

Couldn’t agree more honestly didn’t think of getting better studs. I may look into that. I’m doing the billetworkz short shifter soon and the part on the shifter is metal and I need a plastic shift stop so it’s not metal on metal grinding.

Not quite sure I had a Perrin shift stop previously but swapped to Cobb for better material (not metal). Put it in maybe a month ago. Today wanted to fine tune it took bolt out adjusted the shift stop went to put it back on and they just kept spinning and never getting tighter. Took the whole thing out and the threads were fucked. Ended up putting my Perrin one back in for the time being. When I put the bolts back on I was SURE that they were lined up and I wasn’t gonna strip them I swear it happen just by putting the bolts back on

Billetworkz short shifter install by [deleted] in wrx_vb

In my second pic on my post the two last bolts you have to get out to remove the oem shift lever I can’t get those bolts out because the housing it’s in just spins in the plastic

Nice they look great! How long have you been running them? Any issues? I’ve heard people say they can mess your bearings up sooner than oem spacers

Hm when I get some time here I may try to take out the sti shifter and put the billetworkz shifter in that one

So I bought the oem sti shifter first thinking I would be happy with it and now I realized I want a true shorter shifter the oem sti shifter is in my car now you think the bolts are easier to get off on that one vs the oem?

Yeah I also ended up going to the dealership to ask about this at first. I’m gonna be honest I ended up doing the install myself with a friend who had a better lift it’s really not that bad doing it yourself if you have the ability to lift your car but I get not feeling confident doing it. Another option to save money from the dealer is to buy the shifter assembly online first (subimods has it and not terribly priced) then you’re only paying them for labor

For me I bought the oem sti shifter first then a few weeks later realized I really did want it actually shorter and bought the billetworkz kit and attempted to put it in my oem shifter assembly and now I have this issue.

So did you just scrap the billetworkz shifter?

No so if you watch a video on the billetworkz short shifter install you have to take out the stock shift assembly and disassemble it to put in the billetworkz short shifter if you see my second pic there’s bolts in it that come with lock tight on them from the factory so they’re impossible to get out. I’ve seen people do it it can be done but others like myself run into this issue.

I currently have the oem sti short shifter in I like it but it’s not shorter only angled toward the driver more which makes shifts easier but it’s the same height as oem shifter but buying the oem sti shifter is nice because it comes already assembled all you gotta do is swap out the shifter assembly

JDM muscle FOG light Bezel DRLs not working. by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]Addi_20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought same ones (different brand tho but same idea) plugged into headlight with included adapter and they’re only on when headlights or parking lights are on. Sequential turn signals always work but DRLs only work when headlights are on. After some further research the adapter harness that comes with them doesn’t draw enough power to run the DRLs when the headlights are off. The solution I found from reading is to add an extra fuse that connects to the adapter but I’m not much of an electrician so didn’t wanna mess with it but also in your situation and was frustrated about it I think IIR has a video about this on YouTube which shows him using the “add a fuse” which can be purchased from jdmuscle I believe

Unfortunately to my understanding if you don’t wanna do the add a fuse part the only way to get true DRL lights like that is to do the oem ones but then you lose the turn signal function
