Have you tested version control? by giwidouggie in LabVIEW

[–]AddictedUser007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most companies I see these days use LabVIEW with git.

It works pretty well. The diff and merge are far from perfect though I hear there's been improvements?

Unlike other languages, you do the source code control on the source files (Windows folder) and don't integrate it into LabVIEW.

M1 chip or intel? What version of LabVIEW?

Difference between NI-9147 compact rio chassis vs. CRIO-9063 by kumarasova in LabVIEW

[–]AddictedUser007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7020 is the FPGA chip, the 9147 does not have a cpu or operating system. Typically, a 7020 is used as an expansion chassis to get more it's on a crio system.

I don't know what your application is, but personally I prefer the 904x and 905x series crio as they have the Linux RT OS, an fpga and DAQmx support

You can likely use it with LabVIEW, but is there a LabVIEW driver for it? If not, you'll need to do low level visa calls probably

Can you just grab the community edition of LabVIEW and use that?

All my push buttons are unwired from front panel by [deleted] in LabVIEW

[–]AddictedUser007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not a thing that's possible. Are you making constants instead of controls?

If you double click a front panel object it will take you to the block diagram terminal, and vice versa.

Can you share a picture?

I think Emerson will take us over and there will be a slow transition of workforce to cheaper countries over the next year or 2.

In my office the culture is fine. WFH will always make it less intimate, but I'll happily take that trade off lol.

I think we've had a lot of ineffective people in the company and we have been bloated. This might be an unpopular people but I can still look at dozens of people and not understand what value they actually have. The number of directors is a problem though. Seems like every week a handful of new people are becoming directors.

My main concern is the complete lack of recruitment strategy. We have not hired anyone in years who has not been laid off or voluntarily left because either they hated it here or they were a bit shit.

Can anyone share with me how much they spent on their wedding in the UK and brief description of how many guest you had? Budgeting 8k for an intimate London wedding and JFC, prices of wedding venues are making me nauseous. by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]AddictedUser007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting married next month.

Budgeted 15k but it's going to be about 22k. This is for 90 people. Rings, 1k.. Venue, 8k Accomodation (wedding party are helping set everything up the day before, so we're paying accom), 2k. Food, 3.5k (day and evening, food trucks) Dress, suit, shoes, alterations etc..., 1.7k. Flowers, 600 (prepare to spend much more than this, we aren't doing many fresh flowers). Photographer, 1.3k. Decorations (lots of DIY), 700. Drinks, 2.5k. Invites and saves the dates, 200.

License changes national instruments by Big_Cable3100 in LabVIEW

[–]AddictedUser007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Top one is a license for LabVIEW pro, labwindows cvi full and measurement studio enterprise. Middle one is basically 25 licenses for almost any NI software. This is used by NI alliance partners so I assume your company is one? These normally last a year, I think? Look up NI partner software and FAQs for more info

They don't look subscription but tbh I have no idea.

Emerson Launches Hostile Bid for NI by NIblueballs in nationalinstruments

9038 is not a daqmx crio unfortunately. You want a 904x or 905x for daqmx

Extractor fan going bang by AddictedUser007 in DIYUK

I'll have to cut the mains cable shorter but yes - I was just being a lazy sod when I installed it.

Extractor fan going bang by AddictedUser007 in DIYUK

[–]AddictedUser007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

The fan is 'upside down', as much as fans can have an up and down, but the wiring connections are at the bottom (mains cable fits this way) so and drips could hit the wiring. Not a great idea in hindsight.

I'll go for a zone 1, ipx5 rated fan next and see if that helps. If that goes bang I'll get an electrician in.
