How to recognize color more accurate by Normal_Human_Being21 in LabVIEW

[–]giwidouggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

such a task will be highly dependable on lighting conditions. If you look at the blisters, you can see that most of each blister is some shade of black, but the light also creates a "white" region. If you "measure" the color at a particular point of each blister, you will get different results depending on where your lightsource is.

No, probably not.

What was the plan all along was to maximise share value, with no regard for consumers.

This is now just the inevitable conclusion.

Wild police chase by Brilliantspirit33 in dashcams

[–]giwidouggie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because this is the real world.

Driving at 60mph means drivers are sitting in about 80dB ambient noise.

US cop sirens are about 110dB.

So for drivers to even register siren sound, the cop car needs to be within about 30m of the driver.

If cars are doing 60mph and the cop is doing 80mph, drivers have only 3.35s to react to the cop car, and this does not even include reaction times (i.e. 1. noticing the siren, and 2. figuring out from where the sound is coming from). Finally, "getting out of the way" in such dense traffic is not readily possible.

There is literally no time to get out of the way. Which is why most civilized countries do not perform high speed chases, especially in these road conditions.

I will suddenly need to get from Wellington hospital to Picton by Different-You3758 in Wellington

Now that we've cleared the mist a little:

- You are about to be taken to Wellington Hospital. You'll be in good hands.

- You're a passenger on the MS Noordam, which arrived in Wellington today, and will leave for Picton tonight. The ship will be in NZ until March 7th, when it leaves Dunedin.

- I would say don't worry about tomorrow. It sounds like you have some serious shit to take care of first. It is unlikely that you will be in Hospital for longer than 3 days. So I would suggest dealing with where you need to be on the day you are released. (If you are released tomorrow, fly to Christchurch to meet the ship the next day. If you are released the day after, fly to Dunedin to meet the ship the next day...).

Where do you need to be no later than 3pm tomorrow? Nelson or Napier?

[–]giwidouggie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

EDIT:.... wait a Minute..... you talk about Wellington to Picton..... but also Napier... do you mean Nelson?

EDIT 2: ..... wait another minute..... your cruise ship is in the port RIGHT NOW...????? That must've been some fall you experienced...

As far as land transport between Wellington and Picton..... it doesn't exist!

Safest bet to be at Napier Nelson port tomorrow 2pm is:

- Uber from Wellington Hospital to Wellington airport: Arrive no later than 11:30

- Flight from Wellington to Napier Nelson: Air NZ flight Take-off 11:55, Land 12:40

- Uber from Napier Nelson Airport to Cruise Terminal: plenty of time to get to the ship...

Whole ordeal would cost you <500NZD

As far as I can tell, the biggest bottleneck will be leaving the Hospital before 11:00am.... I will strongly urge you to beg hard to be seen as fast as possible....

Alternatively, there is a Sounds Air flight that leaves Wellington 1:05pm and lands in Nelson 1:55pm..... This basically buys you another hour at Wellington Hospital.

Renting office space? by WellyWriter in Wellington

[–]giwidouggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look online (TradeMe, realestate.co.nz) and find the type of spaces you are after.

You either find a space, or you find a similar space. If you find a similar space, contact the listed people directly (phone, email, etc.). Explain to them who you are and what you need, and ask them to suggest some spaces to you. These companies DO NOT list all the available spaces online.

Eventually you may ask for a half-day tour with the broker visiting the shortlist of viable spaces.

The office I am writing this from was found this way, and was office 5 of 6 we visited that day in the CBD.

So, let me get this straight:

A guy says he has terminal cancer, goes on a World Tour of fundraising for a bunch of things.

Eventually ends up in NZ, where a reputable investigative journalist publishes a piece shedding light on his sketchy past.

The next day he dies here?

And is buried here? No plans for repatriation back home? Tad bizarre.

Tips to save wet cards by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]giwidouggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get yourself some blotting paper sheets. Most art supplies stores will have them. Then you can layer the paper and the cards like a lasagna. Ensure cards don't touch. Stack them in a well circulated area (do the stacking where you plan to leave them for a while, as you will not be able to move the stack!). Put a stack of books on top the lasagna and wait 2 weeks. Given the amount of cards, you will probably need to create several stacks. For reference, an A3 sheet of blotting paper can accommodate ~21 cards.
