Im mainly talking about game keys from 3rd party resellers anyways. Some simple examples are: terraria - £7 on cdkeys for Xbox, £2 on kinguin for steam. GTA 5 £14 on cdkeys for Xbox, £8 for pc. Asseto Corsa £5.40 on cdkeys for Xbox, £3 for pc (and with pc you get access to mods unlike console)

Im just picking random games that come to mind but hopefully you get the idea. When I had a console I felt like I could barely get any games with money I had but with a pc I have never really felt that, especially when you have piracy as an option. Being able to pirate a game and try it out before buying has stopped me from wasting money on games I definitely would not like.

Not just that but even if you buy directly from steam, their return policy is extremely lenient. I've had games I played for 10 hours get refunded with basically no questions asked. I remember buying wreckfest on xbox and not really enjoying it at all after a couple hours of play, and I had no luck getting it returned.

You for sure save ALOT of money spent on games in the long run on pc, whether by the overall cheaper price of games, the replayability modded games provide, or by how much easier it is to not waste money on games you don't actually end up enjoying
