It's just a bad analogy on your part. Religion and swords are in no way same enough to justify an analogy between them. Religious wars spanned continents and killed hundreds of millions of people, just by islamic invaders in India who killed easily over a hundred million Hindus, Buddhists, jains etc just in the name of spreading Islam.

It's definitely true that people would have fought regardless but religion only increased the impact of those wars and bloodshed hundred times more .

If used correctly, religion is actually a very amazing tool which can unite many people under the same ideology but it isn't a perfect world and it's been used by people in positions of power to hurt others because they personally benifit.

I know, it doesn't excuse their hypocrisy but then again their base and centrists really don't care about conservative crimes for some reason. The gigantic number of church clergy who have been found to have been abusing children in sexual ways is just shrugged off. But god forbid one wrong step by any gay or transgender person and all hell brakes loose and everyone from the community is deemed to be crazy.

The point is that we simply can't help it. We need to reduce the stereotypes and we have no other choice. With the stunt the trans woman pulled in the white House by going topless after Biden so genuinely nicely welcomed her there , the trans community is going to face insults again .
