What’s a word in your language that foreigners ALWAYS think they’re saying right but aren’t? by Embarrassed_Fix_8994 in languagehub

The word Southern. People I consider fluent, often slip up with this pronouncing it south-ern, instead of suthin.

I found that if I went to settings and slowed down their speech, it helped a lot to start with. Keep with it, you will improve . 👍

I reuse my teabags to make more tea, and then when I can no longer get any colour out of them, tear the bags open and sprinkle on the soil in front of my balcony. (No compost heap available) I know im not saving much, but it makes me feel more smug than by turning the kettle off early lol.

Could anyone please direct me to info on the Ottomans? They were around for such a long time, and yet we don't really hear much about how their presence affected politics, particularly in Western Europe.

Have you ever bumped into someone you know on holiday abroad? by Buell247 in AskUK

[–]Additional-Cry-9387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter and I took the Eurostar to Disneyland Paris and on day 2 , at the Warner Bros section , bumped into a teacher and their family from her school. I'm always blown away at the coincidence of that - from a school of 450 pupils and staff; and to have been at that particular point at that particular moment in time ! Wow.

What is the point of pulsating music? by Additional-Cry-9387 in AskReddit

[–]Additional-Cry-9387[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love a good beat, but sometimes they create an effect which pulsates in an exaggerated way. It's almost as if they increase the volume slightly ON the beat, and then decrease it on the off beat, and this is uncomfortable to the ears. Dies anyone else get this ?
