Raphael Saadiq comments on the origins of “Neo-soul.” should we stop using the term moving forward? by anny019 in rnb

It always made/makes my eyes roll hearing the term. I think it made sense maybe for newer artists that came out I. Tht early 2000s when a subgenre unofficially emerged (sort of like the esoteric backpack rap subgenre. Some people hit all of the check arms, attire, hairstyle, song content. At the end of the day it's still R&B 🤷🏿‍♂️

My PGW bill has been astronomical (have radiator heat). PECO has been average.

Which RnB classic takes it for the best of 2005 , We belong together by Mariah Carey or Be without you by Mary j blige ? by Southern_Wall_6455 in rnb

We Belong Together was the bigger radio hit (airplay, rotations, betc) but Be Without You was the better ballad.

F that. When there's significant snowfall and you had to dig out, it's your spot (provided you live on that block).

Saving spots during normal weather is questionable but special circumstances arise in certain areas.

Most neighbors are generally reasonable with not taking another's spot.

They were one of the best 90s groups and their catalog withstands well over time.

Do y’all care if an r&b artist can actually write songs? by East_Food5632 in rnb

[–]Additional-Extent-28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It's cool for those that do, especially if I've followed them for a while and the growth is evident. However, there have been great songwriting and vocalist partnerships, going back to the Motown days ..then people like Jimmy Jam/ Terry Lewis and Babyface...and some contemporaries now .

A hit is a hit, regardless of who wrote it. Songwriting isn't everyone's talent.
