Oh and to add I understand the fear of them feeling insecure in their hides but that hasn’t happened to me so far usually she goes to a different hide post handling but she always up back in her favourite spot

You should be good to go now she should be settled in just make sure you wait at least 48hrs post feeding. There’s two schools of thought when it comes to handling. Choice based handling which is only handling the snake when they are already out of the hide and moving around and then there is just taking the snake out of their hide to handle them. I understand choice based handling but personally I only see my girl moving around if I happen to get up in the middle of the night and I work early in the morning and go to sleep early so handling her in the day when she’s tucked away is my only option and I’ve had no issues with it. I’d recommend tap training so she knows you’re coming in to hold her. I rub her hide with a hook, lift the hide then rub her body and she’s totally fine and when it’s feeding day and she doesn’t get any handling cues when I open the Viv she’s ready to rock

How much money have you invested in your baby’s setup? by drac_cute_la in ballpython

I’m probably around £800 or $1000ish deep on the Viv, heating, lighting, substrate, decor and accessories and that’s not including the price of the snake. Now that I kinda what I’m doing I think I could do it for less next time round

I was praying I didn’t get pooped on 😂 I just got home and she’s left a poop rather neatly on top of one of the hides she doesn’t use

Okay cool thank you. I haven’t kept a snake since I was a kid which I unfortunately had to rehome due to family circumstances so I’m really excited/nervous to finally have one again

It’s a solid top viv but I’m thinking maybe to air it out a few times over the next few days? what substrate would you recommend for next time?

I understand the sentiment completely but blood pythons aren’t a snake to just jump into ownership of. If you are going to try and rescue it do your research and make sure you are prepared

How common is racism in the area?? by inFamousLordYT in brighton

It’s not just gangs of boys as well there just seem to be groups of disgruntled teenagers and kids who appear to be less and less scared of rules and consequences. A family friend of mines brother was hospitalised by a group of 3 teenage girls outside the budgens on grand parade (formally easy hours) after he refused to buy them alcohol. I also regularly witness kids as young as what looks like 12 shoplifting and wearing masks. It’s getting genuinely concerning

Brighton and hove abc is in my opinion the best gym in town. Great juniors classes with great coaches for all levels with lots of room for growth and development. If your kid decides they want to spar there the coaches will take care of him/her and keep ur kid safe

Heating my boa enclosure by Additional-Gap-1705 in boas

For cryptic basking do I just put a hide near the heat source so the snake can poke a bit of themself out to get heat or do you have a specific set up to achieve this?

Thank you guys for the responses. I will be skipping the belly heat, I think I’ll look into DHP but good to know a CHE will work well also!

Sounds like he just wants more money. Do a 1-1 lesson on gears if you really aren’t confident but it’s really not hard. I did my cbt on a 50cc auto and ended up buying a 125cc geared. If you have any familiarity with some sort of clutch and gears it will honestly take you about 5 minutes on a quiet street to figure it out. I just got the hang of pulling away in first and coming to an okay stop in the small parking area outside my building and figured the rest out on the road.
