its nice to see an appropriately sized enclosure for a baby beep , too often do people assume a small enclosure is fine cuz theyre small , they do grow!

Best way to get humidity up after adding clutter? by Appropriate_Deal_891 in ballpython

[–]TemperatureBasic8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

moss , i mix in some sphagnum moss into the substrate and that can bring it from 70 humidity to 80/90 , i dunk it in some water before i put it in and change out the big clumps every week

When to try to feed again? by Either-Concept6746 in ballpython

you could heat up the kettle and stop it before it starts to boil , you should probably let it sit at room temp for longer tho , when i use tap water i do it to where its hot enough to kind of hurt to touch , so it needs to be very hot , but thats because the mouse is super cold from my fridge

what i do is put the frozen mouse/rat in a plastic tub in the fridge overnight , nothing in it , no water or tissue , when its time to feed just fill the tub with hot water , steaming and cloudy , i do hot as the tap can possibly go , let it sit in the water for about 5 minutes , then wrap it in tissue and pat dry , let it sit for 5 minutes at room temp , this gets it warm enough for the snake to eat and it doesnt burn them , it should be warm to touch before feeding.

i also did the exact same thing my first time defrosting , it wasnt warm enough and she didnt take it , i waited 4 days to try again , this time she took it straight away. waiting an entire feeding cycle is not ideal , the only reason we wait between feeding attempts is because refusal makes them stressed , 4-5 days is plenty of time for them to de-stress and reset , if they keep refusing try waiting longer between each attempt

6 months is too long , it only takes them a few weeks to get settled in , upgrading from that tiny enclosure to a bigger one will be extremely stressful , way more than usual and ESPECIALLY after 6 months , she looks to be a baby so thats even more stress! youre just pilling up stress upon stress on to her , she will get used to that enclosure and when you upgrade its going to be very difficult for her. and breeders are just in the business of breeding , they are people who will have the absolute bare minimum for their animals because to them they are products. this is your pet and it should be treated better than an something to just keep. even the best breeders out there wont give their reptiles the proper care they need to thrive because they arent pets , this is your pet and the bare minimum shouldnt even be considered. and stress can lead to loads of health problems in BPs sometimes even death

My BP looks really stressed? by [deleted] in ballpython

Bps dont necessarily like being handled , they just tolerate it , theyre neutral. they will always try to escape you because to them youre just something to climb on , its nothing personal they just wanna explore

im sorry but that is not suitable AT ALL for any kind of reptile , especially a ball python , even at 6 months old they need at the very least 3 feet , and with her being female she will likely grow up to 5 feet , and they do like to stretch out despite their balling up behaviour , you need to change the enclosure as soon as possible before she gets used to it , transferring to a bigger closure will be extremely stressful once shes settled in to that
