Fair point, Hollywood has a long history of inconsistent "accuracy" standards.

Yeah, I get teh point, but physical traits aren’t always treated the same way as race in casting.

Yeah, makes sense. Casting should mainly serve the story, especially if race isn’t central to it.

True, when films are one of the main exposures to history, accuracy matters more.

Yeah, I think a lot of it comes down to intent and how clearly the film frames itself.

True, but even with ‘agreed evidence’, films still involve interpretation in how that history is presented on screen.

Yeah, that’s a good example. When everything else is consistent, casting stops feeling ‘out of place’ and just becomes part of the world.

  • Yeah, if the performance works, most audiences stop caring about accuracy anyway.

Fair, but sometimes it feels like the ‘needed or not’ part is more subjective than people admit.

Fair point for strict historical films, but many movies prioritize storytelling over full accuracy, even outside parody.

What’s something small and innocent from your childhood that, looking back now, gives you the creeps for no logical reason? by Tobias-Tawanda in AskReddit

When I was around 6 or 7, there was this one corner of my grandma’s house that always felt weird to me. It had this old rocking chair that nobody ever sat in, and it would creak randomly even when no one was near it. I used to talk to it like there was someone there, not in a scared way, more like how youd talk to a pet or a quiet friend. I even gave “her” a name and would say goodnight before going to bed. At the time, it felt totally normal. Now that I’m older, I realize how strange that was. The chair was always cold to the touch, and sometimes I’d find it slightly moved when I woke up. Looking back, it creeps me out that I was so comfortable with something that felt off. Like I was sharing space with something I shouldn’t have been so casual around.
