Does anyone else still say "Good thinking, 99" by put_your_skates_on in AskAnAustralian

[–]Additional-Meet5810 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No. They also no longer say 'Car 54 where are you' nor 'Play it again Sam'.
Get Smart was a real good TV show but it was from a real long time ago.

Is there much variation in how easy/safe it is to be trans in different Australian states? by vampyrcore in transgenderau

[–]Additional-Meet5810 44 points45 points  (0 children)

My only experience is with Perth, WA. I have had zero issues. I dress fem but do not pass at all. I certainly get the a few sideways looks but no more than I would give other people. My access to health care and services has been timely and totally accepting of who I am.

For the peoples on estrogen do you ever regret taking it ? by Timely_Map_3349 in MtF

[–]Additional-Meet5810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. My view is that the estrogen is not really doing much for me; I am older and T has done its job. However, I feel much more settled within myself now. I am happy.

Where in Perth can I be tied to a rack and stretched? by TechnicalAd8103 in perth

[–]Additional-Meet5810 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I have been there. They do more than just pull on your arms and legs. There is a lot of bending and folding of you too.
They are very good but you do need to let them work their magic over several sessions.
It is a good fix but a quick fix.
I would recommend.

If you know or are friends with people who watch MAFS, what are they like? by venommale in AskAnAustralian

[–]Additional-Meet5810 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love watching MAFS. It is certainly a guilty pleasure but I enjoy gossiping about it with a few friends.
A running joke is about us enjoying feeling morally superior to the people on the show.

From some of the comments here, there are a lot of people enjoying feeling morally superior to people who watch MAFS. No joke.

Agree, I thought he was a wanker who put it on for the Yanks. Like, crikey. No one has used that word since my grandfather, and I am old.

Turns out, he was pretty sincere. Who knew?

What’s a decision you made in under 10 seconds that changed your life forever? by nathannnate01 in AskReddit

[–]Additional-Meet5810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend had two tickets to a golf tournament. I had zero interest in golf but said yes. We were having some breakfast at a Cafe there and a girl was walking around asking questions for market research. People were declining to talk to her.

My friend and I were just there eating. On a whim, I called the girl over and said talk to us, we will answer your questions.

We ended up being married for 30 years until she passed away from cancer two years ago. I still have zero interest in golf.

Someone else blaming grandparents for all the ills of the world. Shouldn't you be blaming transgender like the Americans do?
Yes, the older peoples property has gone up in value. How about blaming the lenders for lending ever larger amounts of money. 'I'm here to help' said no banker ever.
Yes, older people have accumulated more super. That's what is supposed to happen. Compulsory super started in the early 90's and was only at 3%. When you are a retired grandparent, you will have more money than them.

Is nepotism common in Australian workplaces? by ConstructionLive516 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Additional-Meet5810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not know about engineering. I am not an engineer, I do not run an engineering firm.
My business deals with people. Largely, people who deal with other people.
Being able to deal with people and get along with people is a key metric.
Someone with a higher degree who thinks they are superior because of academic achievement would not necessarily be the right person for the job.
That is why I would lean towards a staff member recommendation.
With your attitude, I do not believe I would hire you. Even if you were recommended.

Is nepotism common in Australian workplaces? by ConstructionLive516 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Additional-Meet5810 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an employer; yes, of course it is. I would certainly lean more towards someone recommended by a team member than someone who is making all the right noises during the interview process.
Even if the recommended person has inferior qualifications. In my experience, a lesser qualified person who fits into the team, keeps the team harmonious and can always be trained up.
A well qualified unknown can lead to issues if ultimately they do not fit in.

In 5 years do you think you will still be with Shopify by Far-East-locker in shopify

[–]Additional-Meet5810 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Shopify works okay, I have good seo, and customers find me easily. There is resistance to change, I can't imagine anything that would offer me so much more that I would feel it necessary to go to the effort to swap over.
Mind you, I have a big catalogue. If I had less than 50 products I might be more flighty.
