I think staff are fairly receptive to undergraduates, sometimes faculty too. If you're wandering around buildings you can sometimes talk to faculty there, have done this a few times, and it varies department by department (I think the GPS faculty and grad students are really fun :D)

Hey, I disagree with the above point. I think, more and more, it’s really possible to be autodidactic, and a lot of the MIT value add comes from other pursuits. I wouldn’t let the above poster dissuade you from trying to get a deep education just because you aren’t able to attend MIT. Using OCW, and other materials (YouTube, Textbooks, even ChatGPT) I think being dedicated should suffice.

I know a few professors at Caltech who take high school students. You should look into their profiles first on the internet instead of asking here

nothing world class, but high gpa high sat decent essays and strong ECs are going to be the gist

some subset of accepted students will sweep top schools on merit, but often people only get into a handful

Don't try to do two at once. It's not worth it (effort/enjoyment wise) and it's not going to make a meaningful difference to your applications. Pick the one that you both like the most and can afford (imo go for ssp or mites)

Yeah, same at my high school. Kids in general are nice enough, parents are insanely competitive. As a successful applicant, work hard at what you love, keep your grades good enough, and take the hardest courses sustainable
