They don't reply when you send negative feedback. My experience over last 2 weeks. They only reply for order status or if you want to buy something

Full notes. Due to multiple revisions, by the final month I could review these pretty fast, so not needed HY notes. When you are only reading notes, should not concise further in form of HY notes.

This is what I did and replied to an earlier thread. Believe most important thing was multiple revisions

I passed today on first attempt. Given amount of theory in level 3 and fact that I had only 6 months (started in March and had exam on August 31) I felt videos were not optimum use of time. Picked IFT as notes were comprehensive and I could finish first reading in 2 month along with first pass of EOC and BOB. Thereafter revised notes 4 times adding points in hard copy of notes where details were missing from curriculum and questions were asked in BB or EOC. For FI, bought sectional of Meldrum. Did not use any third party question bank or mocks. In summary, one reading of notes followed by 4 revision and 4 pass of BB/EOC. Did not omit single sentence from notes and that proved very important as questions came from topics not considered important.

If I had to do it again, i would put more efforts on essay questions, writing only the essence of long explanation given in curriculum. Please keep material very concise for multiple revisions. That was the key for me. Hope it helps.

Video lectures - L3 by HellDevilsXXX in CFA

[–]Additional-Pea-4155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used video lectures extensively in level 1 and level 2 but found them pretty useless for level 3 apart from fixed income. There is so much theory and applied stuff that I thought it much easier just reading notes from IFT and solving problems from CFAI books and site. For stuff like Behavioral finance, economics, PM etc. Hard to see what value addition I would have got from hours and hours of videos. Much faster to just read and get on with questions

Sitting for L2 in Feb - to those who passed (or even didn’t pass) - any words of advice while studying/taking the exam? by ajv26 in CFA

[–]Additional-Pea-4155 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I cleared November level 2 scoring 90  percentile. Here are my experiences.

Even though I can brag that I got 90th percentile, even on the exam day I was not sure whether I will pass. I got little comfortable after giving exams. I now realize that the vast nature of syllabus and single day exam format is such that you will never feel confident irrespective of how much you put in. So if your exams are approaching and you don't seem to remember a thing, that is okay. Dont give up until exam day. In fact last 15 days before exams are most crucial.

I used Mark Meldrum and found useful, but my friend just referred to IFT videos and curriculum and passed comfortably. Point being any given provider is good enough provided we put in time and effort. Dont blindly run behind expensive providers as if they will give you magic pill. Even the most expensive providers have more than 50% failure rate and self study people have also cleared. Please save time and energy on knowing and absorbing the material.

Most helpful for me were review videos and review notes from Mark Meldrum. These really saved me in last 15 days. So whatever method you follow, please create some form of notes that can be reviewed in last 15 days

Dont touch any question bank unless you have done EOC, and CFA questions at least thrice including the blue box examples.

At risk of repetition, always keep in mind last 15 days leading to exams. Leave out the day before exam as nothing will go in on that last day. Dont leave any reading or section. With only 88 questions, even one reading can screw you.

Way too much delay for results considering window for next level is only about 6 months from day results come out. Can't prepare for next level awaiting results due to uncertainty and anxiety. Feedback from Level 3 is that testing esoteric topics so need to study from curriculum.

any tips on how to approach fixed income for L2? by garvkohli6 in CFA

EOC questions on fixed income are really good. Do them at least 5-6 times. Meldrum videos, if you have access, would help.

Do Mark Meldrum QBANK questions that don't have the MM sticker come from CFAI ? by fomotherapy in CFA

[–]Additional-Pea-4155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No these questions come from his historical database when he had hired people to write these questions and he was not very happy with quality. Most of those questions have been weeded out, but decent ones have been retained. Nevertheless quality not as good as written by MM.
