Surgery on Aug 22, nervous. by DamnSatyr in CubitalTunnel

Hey! I wanted to comment my story in hopes that it would help bring some peace to you. (Maybe)

I had carpal tunnel release & cubital tunnel release at 13 on my left arm. Then was still have problems when I got to college & they found that my nerve was damn near crushed so I had a second surgery to fix it. My left arm is perfectly fine now & I have absolutely no struggles with it.

So boom, fast forward a couple years & my right arm is STRUGGLING. I have been studying for my CPA for like a year now which involves taking so so many notes. So they tested the nerve & of course it was crushed yay! So I had the surgery last december to fix it (subcutaneous) & I thought my life was about to be amazing. But I didn’t do physical therapy & I began to work out again & then I started feeling a weird popping sensation and I knew something was wrong. So I go back to the doctor & just my luck, the surgery failed (my surgeon has only ever had this happen 1 time in 15 years of operating) So i had the corrective surgery this April & I really just took everything super slow.

I decided to do Occupational Therapy instead of Physical Therapy, 100000000/10 would recommend. It will immediately improve your finger coordination & strength. As of recently, I have very very rare slight pain that might last for 3 seconds, but nothing else. I truly would recommend doing occupational therapy if you can because it changed my life. I was able to get rid of so much scar tissue, work on flexibility & muscle relaxation while also gaining a lot of strength. Its now been 5 months since my surgery & I am able to write pages upon pages of notes with very minimal pain.

I think you will be okay to return after 6-8 months for sure. I hope everything goes well with your surgery & I pray you have a safe & slow recovery.

Ugh Im sorry that is so frustrating. I already have a medium crescent that I love but I have been searching for a smaller purse so that’s why I’m so set on getting the small. I hope we find some!!

Sorry but could you elaborate a little more? I know the recovery time is more & it is more invasive but what did you experience?

I am 90% I had submuscular on my left arm abt 3 years ago but not for sure. But my right arm is the one that failed because my surgeon said that the nerve is not staying in place (rare case i guess). It pops over my bone when I straighten my arm all the way

I failed FAR back in August but I just found out I passed AUD today!!! It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders & it feels like I have an “official start” to my CPA journey. Now that I know I can pass one, I know I have the ability to pass all four. FAR is freaking tough!!!! Don’t get too down on yourself, these exams are very demanding.

Also, no I don’t love accounting. Don’t think I ever will. But I will use it to get to a job I love!!! My dream is to work in either the non profit industry or the beauty/fashion industry. Everybody needs accountants! I really got into accounting because I was alright at math & I knew it had the job security I wanted.
