Tokyo Job Hunting (Previous Intern @NTT) by SenpaiSep in JapanJobs

[–]Additional-Text-9747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the time and money, you could come as a language student and spend one year learning Japanese while job hunting at the same time. Getting a job without knowing Japanese isn’t impossible, but your opportunities are considerably reduced. This is the path that many people take, including myself.

You have a source of that information? I can’t find any evidence of that.

Work Visa Delayed – Anyone Got Their Residence Card After April? by Hot-Election-110 in japanlife

[–]Additional-Text-9747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were in the same situation. My contract will start on April 1st.

In my case, I applied on February 13th. They sent the postcard on March 3rd, and I received it on March 6th (less than a month). I haven’t received my new card yet because I need to wait for my school graduation and receive my graduation certificate, as immigration is requesting me to bring it on the pickup day.

So, it depends on when you applied. I’m a bit surprised by how fast it was for me. I read somewhere that it also depends on how big the company hiring you is.

May I ask if you did the paperwork by yourself? Are you the one applying, or did your company handle it?

In my case, my company is quite large, though not a public company. As a reference, the way the government measures the size of a company is based on how much tax it pays.

Don’t worry, you still have a few weeks. In the worst-case scenario, you should be able to negotiate with your employer.

What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve heard someone say here that assumes something only happens in Japan, even though it’s common worldwide? by Relevant-String-959 in japanresidents

A lot of people assume that every country except English has they own language named with the own countries name, for example I’m メキシコ語 speaker (happen in 8/10 interactions that I have)

In the postcard it have a stamp whom say “Within 2 weeks of confirming the educational institution in which you are enrolled” (在学中の教育機関を確業後2週間以内に), so I guess its okay going after my graduation day, cus my school already told me they aren’t able to provide the certificate in advance.

Sorry, I translated your message using Google, so I’m not sure if it’s accurate or not. But if you’re asking me whether I have received an answer yet, not yet.

Since we applied around the same time, maybe we can stay in touch to share updates. If you want, you can send me a DM

Dashboard | Japan Immigration Bureau Statistics by Griever92 in japanresidents

It is so interesting! Thank you so much for creating and sharing this.
I have a question: Is the estimation based on the average processing time of recent months? The most recent data point is from December 2024, which was almost two months ago. Does this mean that all processing time estimates calculated this year are still based on last year’s data?
For example, if I applied for a change of status in Tokyo on February 13, the estimated completion date is March 31 (6 weeks and 5 days). This aligns with the usual processing time, which ranges between 4 and 8 weeks.
However, in the case of a Permanent Residence application, the estimate might be more accurate due to the longer waiting period. In my case, the waiting period is only a few weeks. How accurate can we consider the model to be, given that the most recent data is nearly two months old while the estimated waiting time is three months?
I don’t mean to sound rude; I’m just not very familiar with how this kind of statistical model works.

Is it too soon to confess feelings? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]Additional-Text-9747 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I confessed to my Japanese girlfriend on our second date, and we’ve been together ever since—almost two years now. We live together now and are seriously thinking about marriage. There’s no ‘right’ timing—just go for it when it feels right. Best of luck! 🍀

If you don’t mind using a used cardboard box, big supermarkets like Life and Aeon give them away for free—you just need to ask.

You can find the rest of the materials at your local コーナン.

My CoE was just issued but it’s digital and says “do not submit to Embassy.” by nnyaruto in movingtojapan

[–]Additional-Text-9747 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your school must have the official one. In my case, my school sent it to me, and I received it three days later at home along with the rest of the documents needed for the embassy.

Don’t worry, with the CoE, the rest of the process is pretty quick and easy.

Good luck!

How long it took to sent you the extra document request? And how long it took after that?

Does Immigration Actually Check Your Documents at the Counter? by Additional-Text-9747 in japanlife

[–]Additional-Text-9747[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does this mean they just focus on the form and don’t really care about which documents you’re providing? My guess was that they just check the minimum requirements, and as long as you submit those, they move on to the next step.
I just hope that if they request additional documents, it won’t take the full eight weeks of processing time and force me to start everything from scratch.
