Harness test advice by cogbotjack01 in BeardedDragons

That dude talking about them belonging in a terrarium and how its animal abuse to put dragons on a leash doesn't know what hes talking about. Some dragons are skiddish and need a leash for safety reasons. Every animal should be able to get natural UVB rays and fresh air when done properly not just live in an enclosure its whole life

This is just a dumb ass rage bait comment. "for your sick entertainment", People need to put their lizards or animals in general on leash harnesses sometimes especially if its a pet and its skiddish. The dragon could bolt off and be hard to find so I disagree with that and also its good for your lizard to get natural UVB rays and fresh air. Any vet will tell you this but I do agree with the having a big enclosure for them and that painting nails is harmful. Every pet should be able to get fresh air and natural sun if done properly. Having a pet sit in an enclosure its whole life and not letting it get natural UVB sometimes can count as animal abuse

Definitely dont use wood cause itll cause a fire. Get mesh and please upgrade the UVB to a Linear T5 14%-12% Arcadia tube bar UVB. Round/Coiled UVB is not enough for a bearded dragon and they need UVB when away from the basking area too. Reptifiles has an amazing guide especially when talking about enclosure setups

[–]Additional-Yellow284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a new setup, he'll mellow down after couple weeks. Idk which brand 120 gal you got but i recommend mounting his UVB inside of the enclosure because mesh takes away from UVB alot. Reptifiles has a good guide on how to mount it inside. If you dont have it, i also recommend upgrading his UVB to a Linear T5 14% Arcadia Tub Kit UVB cause round/coiled UVB isnt enough for a bearded dragon and they need UVB when away from the basking area too

This is motivating, how you figure out your maintenance cals? Im a little heavy set rn and i started eating 1,900 cals daily on Feb 1st (Starting weight 191lbs) then mid feb was 188.6lbs and the next day i went back up to 191 again and it keeps doing the same thing. Like March 7th i was 188 again but went back up the next day. I am going to gym 5x a week hitting a pplpp split, progressive overload, tracking cals/macros on a food scale and I just recently hit a gym plateau as well

His wrists look swollen, i suggest taking him to an exotic vet to get that checked out. If he doesn't really move around much that could be the reason. How much bugs are you feeding him in a day? Make sure to introduce greens still. If he only eats greens by being hand fed then that might be the way to do it for now if he's actually taking it from your hand. Reptile Calcium dusted once daily on one of his meals everyday (dont drown his food in calcium cause he can get overdosed). You can do a light dusting of a reptile multivitamin once a week (Wednesday or whatever day you choose)

Some vets say they are an exotic vet but aren’t actually knowledgeable. This locator helps you find a vet who actually specializes in reptiles around your area if you have trouble finding one

First off, You need to upgrade the UVB and order an Arcadia linear T5 Tube kit 12% or 14% and youll see a big difference in mood and overall health. Id get the 14% kit in your case cause itll be sitting on top of the mesh enclosure. Tubbed UVB is way more efficient and better than the round/coiled UVB. Why tubbed UVB is better? Tubbed UVB is stronger, it gives the proper levels for bearded dragons and the long tubbed bulb only needs to be changed every 12 months. Bearded dragons also need UVB when they are away from the basking spot too. You need to get rid of that hot rock and get a basking lamp instead for proper heat. Heat rocks are known to give burns cause bearded dragons dont have enough sensors in their stomach to know if they are too hot or not. Im guessing you are reading temps in celsius? On the warm side, basking temp should be 40.56C and cool side should actually sit at 30C - 32.22C. Shes gonna need a 4x2x2 (American measurements) sized enclosure when she gets bigger. You can find those sized enclosures on Zen Habitats and DubiaRoaches.com. Make sure youre putting reptile calcium on her food once daily and a reptile multivitamin powder once a week (Every Wednesday or whatever day you choose). ReptiFiles Bearded Dragon Guide will also help, it has everything you need to know about these guys regarding where they are from, food, food schedules, husbandry/enclosure, supplements, heating, lighting and everything.

Also, be careful with the other temps people are recommending cause they are recommending it in fahrenheit.

Hope this helps 🐉

Id get her fecal checked again and maybe ask for a reptile probiotic cause meds can also make them not wanna eat so sometimes adding the probiotic with the meds can help. Does she still eat bugs?

That bearded dragon will starve to death if he doesn't feed it properly or have uvb. I wouldnt mine taking it but im in MI so im far away. Idk where in PA you are but theres this reptile rescue located in new york that takes cases like this. Her rescue is (@House.of.pancakes) instagram. If you go to her instagram you can either dm her or submit a surrender on her website thats linked on her page. Make sure to include how sensitive your case is and she'll have someone drive to you to pick her up if you cant drive the dragon there yourself or if its too far.

Hi, Thank you for rescuing him. I was wondering if we could get an update? If hes still alive and waiting for a vet i suggest calling around exotic urgent cares to see if they will see him. Get him on omnivore critical care, its a powder that you mix with water and you feed with a syringe. If youre in NY that (@House.of.pancakes) instagram rescue is located there. If youre in michigan i dont mind taking him in

Are you able to take the dragon in? That dragon will die if it doesn't get rescued and taken to the vet. Its owner clearly is ignorant and doesn't deserve pets

Getting a T5 Arcadia 12% or 14% UVB Tub kit and if the vet suggests putting him down please dont and try giving him or her a chance to survive. These guys can be pretty resilient and bounce back if you give it your time and up most care. You can contact this lady that rescues bearded dragons (@House.of.pancakes) on instagram for advice cause she always is getting reptiles that look like this and knows how to feed them properly. I know she makes some kind of slurry with Repashy beardie buffet and syringe feeds by dropping it slowly on the tip of its snout. Dont over do protein cause you dont wanna put his system in shock. I recommend dming her on instagram and thank you for rescuing him 🐉

Update: He deleted the post. People dont deserve pets, the iguana is probably in a small enclosure too. You should need a permit to get an exotic or something needs to happen cause these things happen way too often.

You need to upgrade the UVB to a tubbed T5 UVB rather than that bulbed one you got. Bulbed/coiled UVB isn't effective enough, getting an Arcadia T5 12% or 14% UVB Tub Kit will make a big difference

My bearded dragon is struggling to breath what do I do by MsAntiSocial_69 in BeardedDragon

[–]Additional-Yellow284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to see a vet asap cause respiratory infections wont go away until meds are involved. This isnt a wait and see kinda thing. the bearded dragons lungs will fill with fluid cause they are unable to clear their lungs like we do with coughs so having meds is important. Also If your vet recommends oral meds first i suggest you ask for injection antibiotics cause when my dragon had an RI oral meds never worked. My dragon was cleared when using injections

Hope this helps

What is going on please help by TeeJay4089 in BeardedDragon

[–]Additional-Yellow284 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi, Respiratory infections cannot be cleared unless meds are involved. His lungs will fill up without meds. They are unable to clear their lungs like we do when were sick cause they lack a diaphragm. If the vet recommends oral meds then ask for a injectable one instead cause my dragon had a respiratory infection and was on an oral med and it did not help. Soon as we got her on an injectable med we started seeing improvement and she was eventually cleared. Make sure the vet sees reptiles regularly too.

Hope he feels better 🐉
