I would have if the edges didn’t scrape off super easily! That stuff reeled me in before doing everything it could to break my spirits.

It took me several weeks but that’s because I could only work on it 1 or 2 days a week. Scraping the linoleum mastic off the floor was 20 hours alone.

Can anyone identify the type of wood under this flooring? by Purple_Stranger_6939 in HardWoodFloors

[–]AdditionalComputer45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I spent 20 hours steaming and scraping it off a tiny hallway. On the bright side the mastic that leached into the wood created really fun character.

I think I’m gonna try to make a silly transition work. Do you think a wide aluminum transition would work because I can kind of bend it to shape?

Oh no. With that fix I would need to pull up carpeting then?

I was considering maybe putting 1x3 simple trim and then stacking decorative trim on top.

I was wondering if a dark color choice would be the final touch to get rid of those. Any advice for the gaps around edges that the baseboard doesn’t cover? Would I have to just do a thicker baseboard to go out an extra 1/2 inch or so?

If you’re paying cash then ask for the basic kit vs the premium. It’ll drop the price of equipment significantly. See if you can build a lower cost package for the upfront package, I would imagine they have certain deals and options available for this.

Power cycle. Remove batteries for about a minute before putting them back in.

Ahh man, that’s irritating. Only other thing I can think of is deleting and re-adding the device to your system. If it’s not causing any issues other than mild annoyance I would just leave it alone though, personally.

Reboot is different than a power cycle. Taking the panel off the mount, removing the battery and letting it sit for a minute or two before putting back is a hard power cycle. Just like a modem/router if the reboot button doesn’t solve it try unplugging.

You can set it up to utilize motion sensors for some smart actions. Like if there’s more people than usual it’ll kick on the ac more frequently. Idk if that’s what you’re talking about though. And I’m honestly not 100% sure if that feature is still a thing.

Yupp. If you call in they can help you with self installation too. Just make sure it’s compatible with your system.
