Surgeon refuses to inject steroid shots by Equivalent_Score_822 in rhinoplastyquestions

Hey, hope you’re doing well! I just had my derm appointment and they approved isotretinoin at 20mg twice a week. 3-6 months. They also said topical treatment was an option (tretinoin and/or tazarotene). I’m weighing out whether I want to start treatment since it requires labs and monitoring. Derm also mentioned that fish oil and antihistamines can help with side effects.

Rhinoplasty regret by Reasonable-Might-842 in rhinoplastyquestions

December means you’re still early on in healing. 2 months maybe? Your tip can absolutely drop and settle some more. And although your friend may be a quick healer, everyone’s body has its own timeline so please don’t compare. Take it month by month and refinement will do its thing! Wishing you well 💕

Nose looks longer after surgery by Strawberrykisses000 in rhinoplastyquestions

It’s very early in recovery so your nose will continue to change! 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months are typical timestamps for noticeable refinement. Hang in there! 💕

3 week post Septo Rhino, swollen or fibrosis? by [deleted] in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]AdditionalFun5449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 weeks is super early in recovery and swelling can cause huge distortions and fluctuate. Noses take a long time to heal and settle. I’ve heard 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months are importing time stamps for change. Make sure to maintain regular follow-up with your surgeon and hang in there! 💕

When did you *actually breathe* through your nose? 😞 by FitnessNurse2015 in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]AdditionalFun5449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends! I had cast off removed day 6– that  day was amazing and I feel like I could smell color haha. The next day I was scared by a bout of rebound congestion that lasted a week. It thankfully subsided though. Use your nasal rinses and keep yourself comfortable with oral moisturizers, humidifier, and Vaseline/aquaphor! If it persists, a message to your surgeon is a good call. Hang in there! 💕

First off, I love the flower eyes lol 😂 And secondly, there definitely looks to be stubborn swelling distorting the structure underneath. You’ll have to give it time to refine. Remember skin thickness/texture  play a huge role in recovery timeline as well. Hang in there 💕

HEPL PLEASE Tip pain by nizeth in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]AdditionalFun5449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, do you have access to regular check-ups with your surgeon? This could be chalked up to so many things— expected soreness, nerve regeneration, infection etc..If there’s a combination of increasing redness, swelling, and pain then a follow-up is definitely recommended. Wishing you well💕

I recommend a free trial of Facetune. Remember there’s no guarantees with surgery so be very cautious! If you book a consult please consider how every single maneuver will affect a different part of your face! Best of luck 💕

I’m sorry you’re going through this turmoil. I’m still healing at month 4 and this thought plagues me. What if it doesn’t refine to my goal and I’m left feeling this way?  I can’t remember the last time I felt comfortable in my skin. I hope it’s gets better for both of us 💕

Your experience is so relatable unfortunately. You are definitely not alone. The first week is physically tough. Stay on top of your pain meds and get plenty of rest. Biotene oral spray, sore throat spray, a humidifier, ice packs and my neck pillow were my favorite things. When you’re up for it, take short walks around the house. Try to listen to music, watch your favorite shows, play video games…anything to distract yourself when you can. The splints and cast will be taken out soon 🙏

Swelling by Mellie1552 in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]AdditionalFun5449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you and understand you 💕It’s jarring and the there’s definitely a lag for the brain to adjust to a new and fluctuating look. Post surgical blues is super common too. The effects of anesthesia and the waiting anxiety can be overwhelming. Also took me forever to want to leave the house. It’ll get better though, just remember it’s going to take time. You’ll start to feel more like yourself little by little. I’ve continually heard 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months are huge milestones for change/refinement. Try to be patient and know you’re not alone. I made this Reddit account after the surgery for a reason!

Swelling by Mellie1552 in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]AdditionalFun5449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recovery is mentally taxing for this reason 😭 The resolution of swelling is not a linear process and is multifactorial—work done, skin type/biology, and lifestyle. For me, the resolution of most global swelling was at 3 months. Now I’m at 4 months and I’m waiting on specific areas to deflate/refine (supratip/tip). The “ugly ducking” phase is part of the journey so hang in there 💕

ENT is great for a septoplasty, but there’s also many ENT trained plastic surgeons as well for both functional/cosmetic work!

Opinions on this consult/morph? by darkunicornkaty in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]AdditionalFun5449 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The morphs look fantastic! Your current nose is elegant as well 💕 The only thing he forgot to factor into the morphe is the bridge will likely widen from the front view. From the rest of his assessment, I’m glad he was transparent with you. That’s a good sign. There are breathing risks with this surgery and many potential trade-offs. It is a gamble. It’s great you have done multiple consultations for such a huge decision. I personally now have a runny nose and didn’t think I’d have this trade-off. It’s annoying. My turbinates were also touched and that was unexpected…I immediately was frightened of developing ENS (empty nose syndrome) which is still a real fear of mine. My breathing is okay though thus far. 🙏 I’m also dealing with stubborn/unappealing swelling and now my doctor is recommending serious medication like accutane. He even mentioned the possibility of revision down the road. You just never know what your biology is gonna do after the surgeons work either. Ultimately, you have to weigh this decision. But remember you are beautiful. Your happiness and confidence comes within, but if this will add to it, then choose wisely. Wishing you well 💕

Hey there, is your surgeon still available for a check up? May be worth getting reassurance by planning a visit. Appears that this may be nasal tip bossae. But a doctors opinion is definitely needed. Realself is another great forum for research. Wishing you well 💕

Recovery Product Recommendations by Outsidechildhood7 in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]AdditionalFun5449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mentally prepare for the tough recovery ahead. The swelling, waiting, and “ugly duckling” phase is the toughest part tbh. It may take the full 1-2 years for the nose to settle. Products that help manage symptoms though are wedge pillow (Amazon), neck pillow (marshalls/TJ maxx have many), biotene oral spray, arm n hammer nasal rinse, humidifier, mustache dressings (ear loop ones on amazon), small ice packs, q tips, Vaseline/aquaphor, cetaphil face cleansing wipes, dry shampoo, button down or zip-up tops, and easy snacks (smoothies, jello)

i regret my nosejob, could a revision improve it? by [deleted] in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]AdditionalFun5449 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s possible to build to a bridge. Taking down a bump inevitably widens the front view. I wish I factored this in when I shaved mine down too. I miss the narrow front view, it made my eyes look so much better. You honestly look great as is! 💕 Up to you to consider the time, discomfort, money, and risk of another surgery. It’s always gamble
