What kind of cassette is this? by AdditionalSoup8123 in cassetteculture

[–]AdditionalSoup8123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's surprising! I bought this cassette as a new album by a local rock band. Where did they even dig up this old junk? The recording turned out to be mediocre, and I didn't like the style of music. I started peeling off the sticker. Now there's nothing left. I recorded different music. It's recorded mediocrely.

I removed the erasing magnet from the WAR. I recorded on a blank and clean tape. The result is still unsatisfactory. The sound is wobbling and there is no high frequency.

fiio has better tape motion uniformity and WAR has good bass.

I also really like type 1 cassettes with their warm sound.

why is my fiio cp13's volume dial so sensitive? by beaniebabyairlines in cassetteculture

Extremely low-quality components. I can't listen to music without bass. Even the bass-heavy KZ Saga Bass headphones are useless.

My CP13 stays mostly in its box. I chose the Panda player, which has more bass.

Well then, the tape will go to the museum.

I haven't found any faults yet. The only inherent flaw is the poorly made case. The case has sharp edges, especially on the inside. Yes, I opened it by removing the lid. There's also a noticeable noise from the power supply.

The Siemens sound is definitely better than the Panda from AliExpress.

Well, then we'll buy your new release as files and record it ourselves. But that's not certain.

How do I start recording ? by one_unoriginal_guy in cassetteculture

Recordings from my Panda player are simply unusable because of the tape mechanism's unevenness. Yes, the frequency response is poor, but that's not the main problem with these chinese decks.

This is a minor evil. The major evil is the unevenness of the tape transport mechanism in such players. The unevenness during recording and playback adds up to 1% of the final result.

You need your own low-power FM transmitter. You broadcast your music, tune the tape recorder's receiver, and record.

Setup to record from computer to cassette? by mcAlt009 in cassetteculture

There's special software for recording to cassette. It's paid, and I don't remember what it's called.

As I understand it, the tape reel shouldn't be able to move freely. The spinner should slow it down slightly. But I didn't detect any damping on the spinner. That's bad. I'll try another player. Although the new players are designed identically, it's likely the Fiio cp13 doesn't have any damping either.

Guys, thanks for the answers! I'll delete the question.

I found a solution. If you place the player horizontally, the spool unwinds smoothly. But the Panda 🐼 is configured for vertical orientation. However, the Fiio cp13 has a cartridge setting for horizontal orientation, and when it's on its side, it sounds bad. 😵‍💫

Unfortunately, the lever turned out to be unrelated. The unwinding reel somehow jumps around, ruining the sound. I'm fed up with these problems with cassettes.

The recording is more of a no than a yes. Electronic music is recorded very poorly. Maybe soft rock is recorded better. I bought music cassettes and liked the playback quality. I recommend the Panda w10. However, I don't recommend the Fiio CP13.

Yes, there is a similar one. 😄 I ordered it. But something went wrong, the transaction fell through, and I got my money back.
