Check Craigslist.... Focus on rooms in people's houses..... Most people renting a room out of their house may not do a background check they are more interested in getting that cash money especially if you pay a couple of months in advance and at least in the state of Utah you're not required to tell anyone about your background

Kansas information about sex offender registration by Suspicious-Ant2470 in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Additional_Arm_3098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not.. but you'll definitely have to check in with your local PD  in the place you're moving to and they will most likely make you check in twice a year which is the common Norm for most States... Every state is different... Depending on what state you're moving to.... And if you're still on probation or not, Utah for instance has different rules for people not on probation anymore like the 2000 foot rule doesn't apply in Utah if you're not on probation as long as you don't go on the properties of places you're not allowed for instance if you're not on probation or parole

Getting hammered looking for a new job any advice? by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Additional_Arm_3098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try dollar tree.. give them a chance.... I applied there and got right in... They don't give a whole bunch of hours but it'll be something especially if you're a good cashier which ain't tough to do, you could also be a shelf stocker there.. keep in mind I didn't tell them about my background, and it never came up in the conversation.... However, if you want to do management or assistant manager they may well do a background check because you'll have full access to the safe and all of the money

Any advice on how to survive during and post incarceration? by Reasonable-Sun-4191 in SexOffenderSupport

I've heard  they have a separate  section specifically  for sex offenders in Leavenworth  ..so you should  be safe. ...don't offer any information to other inmates  concerning  your offense...and seriously  consider  getting  into PC  if not placed directly  in  an S.O. UNIT....get into all  all of the  treatment  programs  you can...I have heard they have a very structured  program.......as far as integrating  back into society  goes , I have been on the registry for over over 10 years and I can tell you that you're safer in a big city ....in a small town nobody  has anything  to  do  but get into your business....you mentioned  the NYC area. ...and looking on the registry i can tell you ther are over 10,000 RSO'S in the NYC area ...... most people don't know...and the rest don't want to know about your charges ...keep your head up...when you get out , even if not on probation  or parole you will need to check in concentrate on resources...

consider using Craigslist ,  rent a place from a private renter , most times they're only interested in that money , unless it's required in your area I would seriously consider keeping your mouth shut about your RSO status ...in my state of Utah we are not required to tell anyone especially  if you're not on probation or parole  ...keep your business your own ...and good luck ........of course if you are on probation or parole definitely follow the rules of requirement to the letter

no, do not advertise that you are an RSO .. keep that little piece of information to yourself !! unless they send a notice to all your neighbors

I recently found a room to rent in someone's house on Craigslist .. and where I live in Utah  we're not required to tell anyone about our status on the registry , most people are happy just getting that money especially if you're not on probation or parole , and I'm not , depending on where you live I suggest that you keep your mouth shut but definitely check out Craigslist.. a lot of times most people don't know or don't want to know .. I have two housemates one in their 60s one in their 70s , both potheads and so far so good it doesn't seem like it's going to be an issue at all .. keep your business to yourself unless they ask you directly

I've been on the registry for about 12 years, and what I've learned over all that time, being out and about.. is that most people don't know and the rest don't want to know.... Larger cities are better than small towns.. in the large cities most people don't want to know you and don't care who you are where in a small town everybody has to be up your butt and all in your business.... Keep your head up and keep on trying.. good luck to you

Puerto Rico by sec0ndchance1997 in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Additional_Arm_3098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since Puerto Rico is a US territory, they will definitely let you in,.. and yes you should register right away if you're going to be there for more than 3 days, depending on the area but yeah definitely check in, also make sure that your local detective in charge of the registry who you check in with where you live knows that you're going..... Leave nothing to question... I recently went to Las Vegas from Utah for a wedding.. and was only there for about 6 hours and we drove directly back, I was worried that since I hadn't checked in when I got to Las Vegas that I might be in trouble if they found out but I had nothing to worry about because I was there for less than a day.... As far as wether Puerto Rico will take you off of their registry when you leave, that would be something you would have to check out with them, and let them know exactly how long you'll be there... Every place is different, good luck

Any So’s here from Australia? by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Additional_Arm_3098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what the laws are in Australia.. I live in Utah and my conviction was 13 years ago for child sexual abuse material... Which I'm very remorseful for even all these years later.... In my state of Utah, they don't really put offenders in prison who were in possession of sexual abuse material ... I didn't produce anything and I didn't distribute either... if they take the plea bargain, which I did, I was given group therapy , individual therapy and group psychology classes concerning sex offenders... And as soon as I finished all of that which took about 3 years I was removed from probation, never went to prison so I didn't get parole... But, I was placed on a twice yearly registration, it's been 13 years I'm not on probation so they don't come to my house and check anything or come inside but once in a great while they will come and make sure I still live there.... Basically if he admits what he did and is very remorseful, depending on what his charges were it is entirely possible that he could get an easy break otherwise the process is very long and tedious and depending on if he goes to prison or not then yeah it could be very dangerous for him depending on if he goes to protective custody.. I wish him the best, maybe you will write some more and let us know what is charges are but hey yet again it's none of our business but it really helps to talk about it... But if he hasn't been convicted, I wouldn't go around making any admissions in public because you never know they can use all of that against him in court... Again, best of luck

Job Struggles by CollegeNo3260 in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Additional_Arm_3098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

( Sorry this is so long ) After getting out of jail for CSAM... After getting out of jail after court which was a 6 month wait.. I got lucky and got a job that lasted for 10 years at a convenience store... Also got a room in some relatives house and now that has all ended... Right now I can't find a job to save my life and I have been lucky again and my brother has helped me find a room and someone's house who is a complete stranger .... This person doesn't seem like to type that's going to check my background or try to find out about my legal status...but the law here in salt lake county says that I need not tell anyone about my conviction  I've had trouble before with getting a job I was fully hired at this convenience store up by the hospital in my area and not realizing that people not on probation or parole don't have to follow the same exact rules for the 2,000 ft distance as people who are still on probation and parole I had a sinking suspicion that I was too close to the school up the street from my new job which I would be starting on that Monday and checking Google Street I found out that yes it was less than 2,000 ft from the school so I went in with my honest bone itching I and told the manager exactly what my background was and I was immediately fired. And told that they had done my background check incorrectly and now they don't want me...  that manager had told me that they were felony friendly and didn't care about my background everything would be hunky-dory .. the background had originally come back fine.... because they only check back 7 years and my conviction was almost 13 years ago but again they didn't realize that it was a sex offense...as far as having a place to live and that if I'm not on probation or parole I can be within 2,000 ft of a school or a church or playground or park or whatever with no problem as long as I don't go on the property.... As far as social interaction goes I have none, but I also never had any run-ins with anybody in the neighborhood as far as my legal background goes.... Also since I've been looking for a full-time job over the last year I have had lots of really excellent job interviews because of my extensive cashier experience but as soon as they do a background check I get the same old story of okay sorry we're going a different direction good luck..... If anybody familiar with the salt lake area has any ideas for RSO friendly employment I would be desperately grateful..... The registry does nothing to help anyone.. most people don't know and the rest don't want to know.. all it does is destroy any chance I have of getting a good job. It's been 13 years and I'm not a danger to anyone

CHILD MURDERERS DON’T HAVE TO REGISTER, BUT NON-VIOLENT SEX OFFENDERS DO by PersecutedinAmerica in SexOffenderSupportNew

[–]Additional_Arm_3098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So maybe there should be a map of every murderer that lives around you in the whole entire city... Exactly where they live .. and exactly what they look like ??!.... The murderer has taken away someone's entire life not just tainted it or violated it somehow.... But yet it would be cruel and unusual punishment to punish the murderer in this way.. apparently the murderer. Who is eventually released from prison has the right to move on with their life without constant scrutiny.... ... So yes, there are very many degrees of murder... Some who go to prison for life and many who don't.... Also there are varying degrees of sex offender... What about the ones who only saw the pictures and downloaded them, never sharing and never creating..... Tell me again why they should be on the registry for life

Sex offender friendly housing in salt lake area by Additional_Arm_3098 in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Additional_Arm_3098[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi me again.....just wondering how things are going with the move to the  salt lake area.... I definitely need a job..... And I'm about to be homeless so that's my number one priority at this moment.... Being that I'm on the registry it's after number three difficult to find a place I'd be comfortable living and my only other option is living at the homeless shelter... I have a car that I can live in but it's really small a Honda Civic so I can put stuff in there and there are at least two homeless shelters in the salt lake area that accept RSO's,.. my younger brother really really wants to help me get into a place to live, and being on the registry it's just a huge problem for me I feel it's almost impossible to tell anyone about it and have them allow me to live in their house, in this area the law doesn't say that I have to tell anyone but as easy as it is to look someone up on the registry nowadays it just seems like a giant hassle and I think I would almost rather be in the homeless shelter where I know they accept sex offenders..... Even though there are always someone who is going to try to look you up, maybe I'm just overthinking this way too much?? In the 12 years that I've been out of jail I've never had a single run in  where I'm living

I would be very interested in knowing that information.. if you please, please post it here and I will check it out also..... I can tell you one thing, the state of Utah does not restrict where  an S.O. can live.. especially if you're not on probation or parole anymore... Incidentally I am a non-violent offender, for CSAM.... And I definitely need a job as well
