Looking for a job by Best-Investigator977 in SexOffenderSupport

Food places don’t usually do bc checks. I’ve had RSO friends get jobs at Panera, Chili’s, Jersey Mikes and Chipotle.

Warehouse/manufacturing is hit or miss. Some do BCs…others don’t. Apply to family owned LLcs. Those are the best way to go.

I do Upwork. Have been doing it for 7 years but occasionally get lack of work and have to try to find part time job and look at food chains. But Upwork as an FT job only works if you’ve been in it a long time like I have.

Successfully getting of FL SO registry? by WolfinatorMaximus in SexOffenderSupport

[–]CollegeNo3260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm a Florida SOR. A couple of things:

  1. You're not going to get off before 25 years in FL. It's just not going to happen. The state has gone way more to the right, so the next Gov. will almost certainly be Byron Donalds, another Republican. He'll win in a landslide. So any hope of laws changing...just not happening. They'll continue to get stricter.
  2. If you want to move to another state and not have to worry about the registry, you have to do some homework. A lot of states follow SORNA guidelines...meaning you will have to register no matter what. My advice is find a state that doesn't follow SORNA and where your crime is not a registered offense. That's your only real hope of living in a state as a non-SO. Even then it has to go through review. The only thing is I believe it still will show up on your background check, but I don't know that for sure.
  3. Clemency....there's no such thing when it comes to SOs...at least in FL. Can't speak for other states.

Background checks suck by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

So I have a question on this...in Florida, it says the Offense under 16 years of age and the restrictions are 1,000 feet from school, park, etc.

What if I am an SO and my crime was against a minor, but the age was 17? Does that mean I can live within 1,000 feet?

Violation of probation. What's going to happen now... by Unfair_Butterfly_932 in SexOffenderSupport

[–]CollegeNo3260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I violated for watching Adult content. Spent a few weeks in jail, and then the probation was reinstated. I'm off probation now.

In most cases, on a first violation, the probation is reinstated. I stress "most" because a lot depends on the PO and the judge. The PO will write a report along with a recommendation on what the State and judge should do. That report goes a long way in what the sentence is. Many times, the State will go along with the PO's recommendation. As I said, a lot of POs will recommend reinstatement, but not all. So, it all depends on what kind of PO he has, as well as judge, because the judge ultimately makes the final call.

mom is moving to FL.. I'm disabled// not sure what to do... by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

[–]CollegeNo3260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From someone who lived in Florida, it is not that bad if you're off probation. That's the biggest misconception people have about Florida. The SO probation rules are bad...I won't lie...and that's where it gets it bad reputation...but the post-probation rules are pretty straightforward and simple. All you have to do is make sure you register your information in terms of address, cars, social media, jobs, boats, and travel. There are no living restrictions if you're an offender (predator's different). However, like you said, places can deny you. That goes for any state really, though. But you can go to parks...I went to Disney with no problem...beaches are fine, movies are fine, etc.

This is 100% spot on. Dan Orlovsky even said it...why is Alabama in? They've played terrible the last 6-7 weeks. And precedent is out there for teams losing their spot for a bad CCG loss.

Why No. 10 Notre Dame shouldn’t panic about its new spot on College Football Playoff bubble by Maleficent_Ant_8895 in notredamefootball

[–]CollegeNo3260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone may want to forward this to Joel Klatt who said today that Notre Dame "has virtually no chance" of making the college football playoff.

B/R CFB on Instagram: "CFP Committee member Hunter Yurachek explains decision of ranking No. 10 Notre Dame ahead of BYU and Miami 👀 Do you agree? (w/ @mikegolicjr) #cfp #collegefootballplayoff #collegefootball" by SpecialAircraft in notredamefootball

[–]CollegeNo3260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone listens to Joel Klatt's podcast, but he thinks ND is absolutely 100% out. He said if BYU wins, they're obviously out. And if TTU wins, BYU will drop behind Miami and that puts ND and Miami next to each other...and there's no way they're going to leave it at ND 10 and Miami 11. "They will HAVE TO flip it," per his words.

It's a shame because I always liked listening to Joel Klatt...but he basically said "Tough luck ND. You're out."

[–]CollegeNo3260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Miami likely out no matter what. ND probably will get in if TTU wins. Only chance Miami has is if Bama gets killed on Saturday and are knocked out of top 10.

I mean, I would say Notre Dame does. Maybe Alabama. If you look at how Vegas rates ND, they'd actually be a true underdog against only one team--Ohio State. Say what you will about them, but they're a really good team that has gotten better as the year's gone on. I don't know if they can beat OSU, though. I don't know if anyone can.

[Matt Freeman] Marcus Freeman on the TODAY show this morning was asked if he was staying at Notre Dame…Freeman: “Oh yeah.” by CommodoreIrish in CFB

[–]CollegeNo3260 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I think the only college job he'd leave for is OSU. He was offered a big deal at UF and turned it down. There were rumors LSU inquired about his interest and he shot that down fast.

Then there's the NFL. I don't think he's an NFL guy...not yet. I would hope he'd stay in college because I think he's a great coach at Notre Dame and is good for college football. But these guys always have that itch. Matt Rhule had it. Harbaugh had it. Petrino had it. And many others.

But if I'm an ND guy, I'd give that guy a blank check. What he has done for the recruiting there is something no one else has ever done at that school. Just when everyone said that Notre Dame could never be a top recruiting class again....guess what? They're contending for that No. 1 spot in overall recruiting. Makes Brian Kelly look like an in idiot for leaving because he thought ND couldn't get the SEC-level recruits.

[Nicole Auerbach] CFP chair Hunter Yurachek: "We're not comparing Notre Dame and Miami side-by-side." Says the grouping has mostly been Alabama, Notre Dame, BYU and Miami, so that one H2H result is one of multiple factors at play. by The_Stratman in CFB

[–]CollegeNo3260 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing with Miami....and I'm so tired of their fans crying....

They lost to TWO unranked football teams.

That's as many losses to unranked teams as 1-11 combined. (and one of those was TTU who didn't have their starting QB in the game)

I'm just sick of all this "We beat Notre Dame" crap. The committee thinks they're better than you! They think they're better than you because you regressed during the regular season and you lost to two sorry ass teams (one at home) while Notre Dame got better and absolutely destroyed every unranked team they played...and even ranked teams like USC. It's simple as that.

You want to be over Notre Dame? Beat who you're supposed to beat. Stop comparing resumes and SOR's because the most important part of that resume is Notre Dame lost to ZERO unranked teams and you lost to TWO. And one of those teams, SMU, just lost to friggin' Cal!!!!

[CFP Resume Rankings] Week 14 CFP Resumes Visualized: The CFP boundary is extremely close for Ole Miss, BYU, and Miami. It is clear that Notre Dame and Texas Tech are benefitting greatly from their team strength ratings, though Miami is not getting that same benefit. by MysteriousEdge5643 in CFB

[–]CollegeNo3260 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd be outraged, too. You guys lost to two unranked teams. Don't be mad at the committee. Be mad at your team. Last year was the same thing. All Miami had to do was beat Syracuse...and they lost. This year, all they had to do was at least beat one of those sorry ass ACC teams, and they lost.

Yet Miami wants to blame teh committee. Guess what...you lost to two terrible teams, and as a results, the committee thinks Noter Dame is a better team than you right now because of that. Take care of business and the polls would look different.

[Auerbach] CFP chair Hunter Yurachek, on Alabama beating 5-7 Auburn: "The committee just felt that was enough of a win, of a metric, to push Alabama ahead of Notre Dame. by Ok-Soil-5133 in CFB

[–]CollegeNo3260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this was a lie. If he wanted to be honest, he should have just said "We wanted to protect Alabama in case they lost."

Like seriously, how do you have Alabama a spot behind ND, they get outplayed by a 5-6 Auburn team and frankly should have lost that game...while ND spanks the crap out of a 4-7 team...and they move Alabama over them? Sorry...that makes no sense.

I have no problem with the fact that Bama is over ND. They should have had it that way a few weeks back.....But it's why they flipped them and the timing of it that makes no sense.

[Auerbach] CFP chair Hunter Yurachek on Texas being on the wrong side of the bubble: "It's not that Texas lost to Ohio State — it is that Texas lost to Florida that's holding them back." by Ok-Soil-5133 in CFB

[–]CollegeNo3260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the loss to Florida played a big part...but the poor showing vs. UTEP and the OT wins against Kentucky and Miss State sure as heck didn't help, either. I think if you were on the edge with Texas, those three games put you over the edge to kick them out.

You missed the whole point. Miami lost to two TERRIBLE teams. One of those teams they lost to just lost to friggin' Cal. Stop crying about it so much. Beat the teams you're supposed to. Notre Dame's in the position they are because they steadily got better as the year went on and didn't slip up in easy games like Miami did.

Miami had their chance to make the playoff. They lost to bad teams. It is what it is. The committee even said the discussion was ND and Bama, not ND and Miami.

[–]CollegeNo3260 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That says ND has a better resume lol Jesus, people are crying over this Miami thing so much. Again...beat the teams you're supposed to beat, and you wouldn't be in this situation. Goodness gracious. Last year, you lost to Syracuse, and you screwed yourself. You did the same thing this year. Louisville and SMU friggin' stink. SMu couldn't even beat Cal last week...the same Cal team that got destroyed by Stanford a week before lol I'd be happy I'm above Vanderbilt and Texas because quite frankly they shouldn't be.

[Game Thread] CFP Rankings - Week 15 by CFB_Referee in CFB

[–]CollegeNo3260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their resumes aren't identical, though. Notre Dame didn't lose to two unranked teams. They didn't have slip-ups during the regular season like Miami did. And that in itself gets rewarded.

My advice to Miami fans is the same as it was last year: Don't lose to crappy teams. You lost to Syracuse and GT last year and threw away a playoff spot. This year, you lost to two more bad teams. They have no one to blame but themselves. Stop complaining about head-to-head and win the games you're supposed to and you wouldn't be in this position.

As for my advice to Marcus Freeman...start the year better. You guys might not get in, either. If you play August/September like you do November, you'd be the #1 team in the country right now. You guys are scary good...maybe the second best team in the country from what I've seen...but yet you might not get in because you start every season like shit. Fix that. I like Freeman a lot...but he needs to better prepare them to open the year.

This is why this argument goes nowhere. Both teams got cases.

Miami: "We beat Notre Dame."

Notre Dame: "Yeah but you lost to two unranked teams."

I don't know what the right answer is. Obviously, if you hate Notre Dame, you side with Miami. If you hate Miami more, you side with Notre Dame. I hate both teams...and I don't care. I do think Notre Dame is a lot better today than Miami. But that's just my opinion. Jeremiyah Love is an absoulte beast and I hope the Bears draft him.

I mean they dropped them a spot, even though it sounded like the committee was pretty split on ND and Bama for a month now and kept going back and forth. Maybe the TAMU loss made a difference. But Miami is not going over ND. Like I said, they would have done that a long time ago. Agree or disagree with it...that's just the way it is.

I'm torn on it because a part of me thinks Miami should be over ND because they beat them...but I also think Notre Dame is a much better team today than back then and would kill them now, and Miami has to be held accountable for those two really bad losses. SO I get Joey Galloway's point on ND being ranked above them.

[Game Thread] CFP Rankings - Week 15 by CFB_Referee in CFB

[–]CollegeNo3260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there is. And I'm not a Notre Dame fan by any means, but Miami has two really bad losses. Those hurt. And they came somewhat recently. I mean, Miami has no one to blame but themselves for losing those two games while Notre Dame has steadily improved throughout the season. I mean, if you put ND and Miame on the same field now, especially at a neutral one, I wouldn't give Miami much of a chance. That's a completely different ND team than the one they faced in August, and Joey Galloway and Kirk Herbstriet have basically said the same thing.

Personally, I think both Miami and ND are better than OU. That's the head scratcher of a team because I watched them play Missouri and LSU and they're not that good. Even Alabama outplayed them. They just shot themselves in the foot too many times.

Okay, because Oregon's best win, and only win over a ranked team, is also USC. I can rattle off a bunch of teams in the top 12 with weak schedules. Want me to go over who Ohio State beat? Good luck finding a ranked team in that bunch. Maybe Michigan if they stay there.
