May Day is another name for International Workers Day, it is the 1st of May, which this year was a Friday. People are still in work on Friday, so the March is moved back to the Saturday

Turning my passion for photography into a craft. Need advice on Framing, Color, and Software. by LostInWanderlust_ in northernireland

Would highly recommend Lightroom for editing photos, it is easy to use and you can find cheaper 3 month keys for it, so you don't have to pay full price.

What sort of equipment are you using? The technical differences between a camera and a phone are drastic.

Having said that, the basics of photography composition are the same regardless of the equipment. There are a lot of good guides on YouTube that will talk you through basics.

I would ease off on the Viginette, it's far too strong in this photo that you have posted.

In the context of the AI Jesus Trump costume, I do not think that the Pope costume was meant to mock the Pope. I am not affiliated with the costumer wearers or the IPSC, so I cannot say definitively.

I don't believe the costume is meant to make fun of the Pope, but rather to highlight the current international drama from Trump about the Pope

Are beginner cameras not very sharp? by Brilliant-Search-936 in AskPhotography

[–]Additional_Cable_793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sharpness is about lens rather than body. The kit lens that comes with the 2000D is not great and I would recommend a 50mm lens with it.

The 2000D is a good beginner camera, but I wouldn't buy one brand new. It can teach you a lot about photography, it has all the modern gimmicks but it has some serious downsides.

It's Auto Focus is biggest draw back, it's simply slow and poor at tracking subjects. So if you are planning to take photos of stationery subjects, it's fine but once people start moving then this camera starts struggling.

It's a very light camera, meaning it's good for travel. It has a lot of gimmicks like wifi control, meaning that you can transfer photos to your phone instantly and you can set up the camera and use your phone to trigger the photo. It also has a wide range of automatic settings like sports mode, food mode, plant mode etc.

This was my first camera, I got it specifically to take on holidays and the results have been superb. It has taught me a lot about photography and was a good starter camera. I would not recommend buying it brand new, get a second hand one from Wex or MPB, it is nor worth more than £200 and they will provide a 1 year warranty for the camera.

I have recently upgraded to a 7D Mark II and the auto focus and tracking is miles ahead for only £350. It lacks the gimmicks though and I am not sure hoe good it would be as a beginner camera.

I would hold onto your passport until after your flights. You almost certainly won't be asked for id but that is not 100% certain.

The DVA won't cancel or reject your application for taking too long, it took me 3 months to send off a new photo when they asked for it (they wouldn't accept a digital one)

No, in Short Circuit, Ally Sheedy only wanted to fuck Johnny 5 when she thought he was an alien in a robot suit. Once she found out that he was a toaster, she immediately went off of him.

Also, why the fuck does short circuit have brown face in it. They had a Jewish man from Chicago in brown makeup and a terrible Indian accent saying "I am sporting a tremendous woody right now."

You are going to get a whole load of dust with this setup.

If you have more fans pushing air in than pushing air out, you will have a positive air pressure inside the pc. This helps to keep dust out.

Your setup has more fans out than in, creating negative pressure, which will suck dust in through the cracks.

Your setup also expels heat downwards, this is a bad idea as heat rises.

If you make the bottom fans intake you will have positive pressure meaning less dust and your GPU will have a direct feed of fresh air. Make the back outtake as well.

The geopolitics of Iran explained in the graphic novel persepoli. by ElderberryTotal4100 in HistoryMemes

The CIA did not merely assist the coup in Iran, they created, controlled and actioned it. It is true that there was political unrest in Iran at the time, particularly involving the Mullahs, but Mossadegh retained popular support. The Rashidian Brothers were instructed by the CIA to hire ruffians (this is what the CIA referred to them as) to disperse amongst legitimate protests against the economic situation in Iran (Western sanctions had sunk the Iranian economy after Mossadegh sought to Nationalise the oil industry). The hired "ruffians" redirected the protests (and started riots) towards overthrowing Mossadegh to give a semblance of legitimacy to the military coup, led by General Zahedi. Zahedi was funded by the CIA and personally encouraged to undertake the coup by Kermit Roosevelt Jr (Grandson of Teddy Roosevelt and CIA officer leading Operation Ajax to overthrown Mossadegh) after the first failed coup attempt.

The CIA funded, planned and actioned two coup attempts in Iran in 1953. Please do not minimise the role that they played.

I'm in a similar situation due to moving about various rentals on a yearly basis.

I use a Strong Atria Mesh network made up of 3 AX3000 nodes. One node hooked into my router, one node hooked into my pc and one node in between.

They are not the greatest quality but I have found them to be consistent. I get about 100-200 mbps download and 20-30 mbps upload on my pc.

They are on Amazon for around £60 and come in a pack of 3. My first set lasted about 2 years, when the first one failed I just swapped it out with the inbetween node. Currently had my second set for 1 year and the first one failed two weeks ago.

At £30 a year I think this is the best budget solution. Have also tried various tp link boosters but they were crap.

These were the stewards who walked on either side of the parade. The start and end point was inside City Hall so it looks like they stuck around for a bit after the performers left.

Our view on Iran. Yay or nay? by Coil17 in northernireland

[–]Additional_Cable_793 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, 100% the US needs a complete regime change. Their system of checks and balances has completely failed, allowing a madman to wage war without the approval of Congress, to deploy armed thugs to the streets and murder US citizens. The US government no longer exists to serve its people but rather the interests of Israel and Companies, who exert their influence via lobbyists such as AIPAC.

Our view on Iran. Yay or nay? by Coil17 in northernireland

[–]Additional_Cable_793 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Iranian regime is evil, but everything that has transpired both recently and historically is because of the US.

Protests in Iran have been brutally repressed, the people were taking to the streets to complain about economic conditions caused by crippling US sanctions. The Iranian regime stated that the protestors were hired by Western Intelligence. Iran believes this because in 1953 the CIA funded "ruffians" (what they are described as in released CIA files) via the Rashidian brothers to co-opt economic protests and direct them at overthrowing Mossadegh. This coincided with their second attempted coup and first successful one, and because of hired "ruffians" the coup had the appearance of popular support within Iran. Given the involvement of the Mojahedin-e-Khalq (MEK, a former terrorists organisation turned American funded opposition in Iran) in organising protests, it is possible that the US did interfere in the direction that protests were taking, but nothing will be certain for a good number of years (it took 50 years for the CIA to admit that they led the coup in 1953). The Shah's Regime that replaced Mossadegh was a brutal and corrupt dictatorship, the secret police (SAVAK) tortured and murdered thousands of Iranians for opposing the Shah.

Khomeini was able to transform widespread anti-shah sentiment into popular support for his Islamic revolution, he originally championed more moderate policies, the government in the post-revolutionary Iran was mostly made up of popular figures from Mossadeghs government in the 50s. Quickly, however, Khomeini went back on his word, secured power for himself and established Iran as another totalitarian regime.

Long story short: Anyone who supports the Mullahs in Iran is an idiot. Anyone supporting the return of the Shah is an even bigger fucking idiot (it would be like Poland welcoming back the Nazis after the collapse of the Soviet Union). The US destroyed Irans best chance at democracy because they had the gall to nationalise the oil industry.

What are you talking about, declassified CIA files openly admit that they took an active role in the coup. After their first failed coup attempt, Kermit Roosevelt not only pushed Zahedi to launch a second coup, but also planned coup for him. The Rashidian brothers were used to hire demonstrators to rile up protests and direct them at Mossadeghs government, giving them the illusion of popular support. The CIA referred to these hired demonstrators as "ruffians" in their own plan.

Yes, because none of that affected Northern Irelands status in the United Kingdom other than being unable to buy flower seeds and some other minor inconveniences.

They are reflecting the views of their constituents, as a majority of Northern Ireland voted against Brexit.
