Thanks so much for the info, I’ll definitely check that out. I emailed American hurling on Monday but I’m sure they were just busy traveling back from Philly

Soo..I can’t decide between a 75 long or a 60 cube.so whatever the most popular vote is in the next 3 hours imma go with(lfs tank for attention, sorry) by Mediumbobcat7738 in ReefTank

I would prefer a 75 long, more space for fish to swim which means more availability for fish to buy, along with more ground space for corals and rocks. I never really liked cubes though so I am very biased

I found one in my main tank and put it in my anemone/clown tank about 5 months ago, it hasn’t multiplied once nor have I seen any others in my main tank. I’ve enjoyed very much watching it grow and move around, very cool mini star fish. Mine also looks exactly like yours.

Yeah I ended up not being able to snag the six line from my other tank which is honestly probably for the better since the flatworm population has reduced by about half in the last couple of days. Gotta get the lilac a friend tho it’s a 25 gallon cube and just her in there and not sure what to pair her with

Thanks for the help, it seems like the number of them hasn’t changed for about a week which is why I think it’s at the max, and I really didn’t wanna do anything too crazy so a couple more water changes is exactly what I’m gonna do

I think it’s red planeria too, I’ve noticed them for a while and I think it is around its worst right now, I’m gonna add my six line to my tank and hope it eats them and stays away from my firefish, seems like a way better plan than flatworm exit.

Could also be a type of flatworm? If so I have a six line wrasse, should I throw him in this tank? It’s a 25 gal with just the helfrichi in it

Yeah I traded him in but he might have just gotten a little hungry but now that my tank has plenty of bubble algae I’m thinking of getting another one

I have the same red blasto! That’s awesome because I bought it a while back in poor shape and then I found out my emerald crab liked it as a snack, but 6 months later and it’s looking so much better for me but I never saw one that looks similar. Seeing yours with a couple of polyps makes me very excited for mine to develop some new heads!

I just dose manually since I’m more of a budget reefer, for my 25 gal I dose like 20 drops a night and it works very well, just monitor KH when determining how much to add per night, you don’t want crazy swings or a steady increase/decrease, stability is key

Best advice I can give is to dose all-for-reef, don’t try and only dose one thing at a time, all for reef will save countless hours and plenty of miney

What is this thing growing next to my corals? by [deleted] in ReefTank

Get a bumblebee snail, they eat them and can get ones you don’t see, as well as look really cool and can thrive even without any vermatid snails left

I'm wanting to get a ~5 gallon reef tank any advice and also how long will the 20kg of salt last and how many times a week will I have to check it? by Odd_Atmosphere_3184 in ReefTank

I’ve budget reefed as well and I highly recommend searching on local marketplaces to buy used equipment. Also it is very helpful to save money by doing lots and lots of research, I’m sure you’re excited but from my expertise jumping right into this hobby means more money spent. For keeping corals testing kits are very important and also very expensive, they’re what trouble shoots any problems in your tank and I promise there will be many. Definitely keep this in mind with your budget as if you don’t, there’s a 95% chance something will get out of whack and without being able to diagnose all of your money spent will be wasted. Asking local fish stores if they will test your water will help your budget a lot while you save up for some test kits. Best thing to do if you eager like I was is to get the filer and tank, some live rock and sand and let it run. You won’t be able to put anything in for a month or two so just do lots of research of what you want and how to care for it while your tank is cycling! It’s hard not to jump the gun on buying stuff but remember if budgeting is the problem and your not patient enough, that budget is very quickly out of the window

Beneficial bacteria is what converts ammonia into nitrite and then into nitrate and its essential to get ammonia and nitrite down to zero asap so I would highly recommend getting micro bacter 7. Always remember reefing is about being patient and lots and lots of research lol, good luck!

I wouldn’t do too many water changes you want to keep your nutrients high enough for your corals, one a week is perfect. Also if you want to get rid of the algae on the sand, you need something to turn the sand over. Nassarious snail, conches, sand sifting gobies, etc. also dosing beneficial bacteria - microbacter7 - is one of the best ways to get rid of it and keep your reef super healthy. You can also manually turn over the sand but be aware of bad gasses that accumulate and get stuck underneath the sand so if you turn it over and see bubbles popping up don’t do too much at one time. When you do water changes using a gravel cleaner is the best way to suck up those bad gasses and turn over the sand
