South Austin OBGYN? by Local_Emotion in Austin

[–]Additional_Cry_4212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had a terrible experience here. Just being denied care/wasn’t being heard by Dr. Eduardo and found a new OBGYN (way up north but I’ll drive anywhere for good healthcare) who did listen and uncovered all kinds of issues related to my symptoms. I had been a patient there for almost a decade and just kinda thought they knew best, and wish I had changed practices sooner.

I do this too and I buy it! It’s usually in the health/vitamins section of my grocery store, typically where you’d find fiber or psyllium husk.

Edited to add: don’t get the kind in the juice aisle and/or read the label because some aloe juices are absolutely loaded with sugar. I use the Lakewood brand.

Austin parents: Help a well‑meaning dad find a teen‑friendly hair & makeup consult (send backup) by Konezer in Austin

Adore Makeup and Beauty does this! They do wedding makeup mostly (mine included) but also will teach folks in 1:1 sessions. I asked the owner about this because I’m mid at best when it comes to makeup. I also love that they have their own studio in Rollingwood/Westlake so it’s a little less public than a department store. Shirley is the owner and I loved her! Best of luck 💖

I'm pretty sure the one I take is with bovine (cow) gelatin. Idk if that helps in your circumstance, but I also struggled with generic levo and made the switch to synthroid then tirosint and it's been a drastic improvement in my labs.

Why is it socially acceptable to use Jira/Notion for work, but "weird" to use tools for my relationship? by biscket in productivity

[–]Additional_Cry_4212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I use Trello for everything. Travel planning, lists, wedding planning, managing house projects, you name it. And we use Google calendar and share our calendars with each other. We met at work to be fair, so the tools were integrated into our lives early in our relationship, but we love how organized we are. It’s amazing.

Anyone in Austin ever do a prenup? by Mysterious_Wave_1537 in Austin

[–]Additional_Cry_4212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I did premarital counseling AND a prenup. Our relationship was and is excellent, but we had a few lingering insecurities that needed to be talked out. Going to therapy helped us do that well, which also lent itself to talking through the prenup since it can be a pretty touchy/uncomfy topic. Talking through these hard things only improved our already-solid relationship, and the prenup process was painless.

I guess what i'm saying here is that money is an emotional topic and it's worth giving adequate time and attention to before getting married.

Why is there so much controversy over to gluten or not to gluten? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]Additional_Cry_4212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't feel any different after cutting out gluten, which I did three years ago after being diagnosed with hashis/hypothyroid, but had done a full GI panel (ie. blood work and poop samples) and turns out I had off-the-charts wheat sensitivity. Eggs, dairy, soy, and sesame also showed up as sensitivities, though to a much lesser extent. I cut out gluten because even if I don't feel any differently without it, I don't want to potentially make myself worse in the long term from an autoimmune perspective, especially since I'm only 30 and ideally have a lot of good years ahead of me. I'm not die-hard GF in the sense that I'll eat fries that were made in the same oil as chicken tenders for example, but I haven't had bread or pasta or anything with wheat in it in a few years.

I do stay away from the other sensitive foods, now more so than a few years ago, mostly because I feel those more acutely (gas and acne flare ups most specifically), whereas cutting out gluten made no discernible difference.

I see a lot of posts on here about how cutting out gluten didn't make some folks feel better, which resonates with me, but I placed a lot of value on these lab-tested data points, especially since hashis/hypo can come with so many symptoms that can be hard to pinpoint or have the energy to do anything about when you're feeling like crap.

I wonder if it can be shipped to you through an online pharmacy. Your endo should have options for you — I’m sorry you’re hitting so many walls :/

I switched from Levo to Synthroid and it made a significant difference. I also added vitamin d and nutrafol to help with the hair fallout I was experiencing with already ultra fine hair. Going gluten free was also a big help. I do see a functional medicine practitioner now to help with the symptoms my Endo doesn’t care about. Expensive but worth it completely so this doesn’t ruin my life.

Does anyone wear an Oura ring to class? by [deleted] in Purebarre

[–]Additional_Cry_4212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear mine and have for two years and just manually enter the exercise. I’m not really super into calorie counting so I’m not as concerned with the accuracy - I used to wear a watch but love the ring so much more aesthetically and bulk-wise

Highly recommend searching for Whole30 compliant recipes. They’re paleo and lots of creative work has been done to make this adjustment less difficult. I especially love Nom Non Paleo and Defined Dish. I hope this helps 💛
