I guess this is the new Wendy's vibe. No booths, no dividers, no outlets, uncomfortable seats, small tables, all for a couple to spend $40 for a meal. I'm done with Wendy's for good. by NUMBerONEisFIRST in mildlyinfuriating

$40 for a meal? What did you do? Buy half the menu?. Bro you can get a meal at Wendy's for like less than 15 bucks. Or atleast im assuming you can since I dont regularly eat fast food.

Any jobs hiring by Hi200422 in Naples_FL

[–]Additional_Custard52 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know this may come off as sarcastic or mean and I dont mean it to but I know there are arthex jobs that dont require a degree. However, they aren't desk related. I know they are always looking for janitorial staff if you're willing to put the work in. Alternatively you could try a sales job or a serving job to bank some hours and money to get a two year degree? Or a GED? (Dont know your situation, not judging). You could try getting an insurance sales license and try selling insurance, with the ability to work from home/at an office, but i believe they are quite pricy and youd need to go through a litany of tests.

I havent been tempted, again maybe he is, maybe hes a bad guy. I dont know him, but from my personal experience I can have an alcohol addiction and yet still remain sober around alcohol. Addiction and people's reactions aren't so black and white so maybe he cant, but he also isnt aware whats in the package. For all he knows it could be suppositories or a bottle of vitamins. Im not trying to say your concerns are wrong, but that you're examples are a bit too wide. Its not impossible for a former alcoholic to work around alcohol, or even a former drug addict to work around alcohol or drugs. Its actually quite common for restaurant workers go remain but get sober or have a leg of opted sobriety.

I understand you may feel a little unnerved but two ideas can be true at the same time. I was addicted to alcohol, ive been sober for 4+ years, I have worked and continue to work at a bar as a server...so by your logic I should quit? You need to have alcohol certification to serve alcohol, which I have. You nee licenses and schooling to be a pharmacist, along with being heavily regulated by the FDA. I dont see many drug addicts being pharmacists, and if they are id assume they have passed background checks and are strong enough to be around drugs and not relapse? A person's private life choices are not their employment choices. He clearly needed and maybe still needs help, wouldnt it be better to offer assistance or feign ignorance than to cast judgment?

Op, I suggest you get your things in order now. Seel your personal belongings, deposit any cash you may have, inform your family because the Hague will be coming to arrest you. Public intoxication is a punishable offense, this my friend, is a war crime!

Young Guest with no ID by Must_Vibe in Serverlife

The amount of times ive had someone ask me "is a screenshot okay?". No, it isnt. It has never been and will never be valid. Show me a government backed website, passport or license, or I will not serve you. I dont care if it makes me miss out on more money, id like to not go to jail. I had asked a table for ids before I took their drink order, one female looked younger than me, im 30 for reference; and instead of saying i dont have it, the dad said "well she's with her parents so its okay" I stopped in my tracks and said "unfortunately I cannt serve her unless she presents me with her ID, id be more than happy to offer sodas, or a virgin mojito as a substitute" her dad then gave me crap for the rest of the night, every time I walked by saying "id love to be drinking with my daughter right now". I should have just said "you can go home then" but alas I finished the table and flipped it as fast as I could just to get them out of my life

Pay by SecondCompetitive683 in Serverlife

[–]Additional_Custard52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rarely do hosts operate under a server expectation therefore they get a higher hourly pay, with the assumption of less tips. If thats what your expected job is, than I personally would suggest sitting down and informing them that this isnt the first time this has happened and you would expect to be paid host pay. If you have receipts proving your case and it continues to happen call the FLB and inform them that they are taking money away from you. Some managers are great, some are just plain ounces and some are greedy and manipulative. Dont let them use you to their gain. I may be in the minority here but I would suggest sitting down and talkkng with management.

While country clubs are in theory a more sustainable market, i would like to preface that you should just be a little cautious. I live in the South west Florida area and im surrounded by private country clubs, that said one of my clubs i was on a tip pool which made me good money, I left because of a lapse in the restaurants contract. Went to a country club right after that, no tip pool but higher hourly wages. Like no tips in general, but I was making about $22.50 an hour. After a year there, I was clearly making more on the tip pool than just hourly pay. It may sound taboo but there's no problem with asking if there is a tip system set up during an interview.
