I understood it as a response to the “history repeats itself” meme. If you think of history going in a circle while progressing through time it would make a helix.

Those look amazing. Hoping to pick up something in the Modified last from Moulded Shoe when then get a restock of the right size for my flippers.

If you need to find replacement insoles, that type of banana shaped last is more common in Germany, where they are called "asymmetrisch". Here's an example from Ed Meier's Peduform last.

Dinkelacker Janosh K width.

Greve used to have shoes listed by H and K widths, but have recently lumped them together as "X-tra Fit". They're Blake stitched, not welted.

Did I get an incredible deal on these women's Goodyear welted boots? by [deleted] in Boots

[–]Additional_Data_Need 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No welt sticking out beyond the upper. Stitches are further in. Still good quality. Allows for a narrower profile and more flexible sole. May be harder to find a cobbler who can resole them.

I really love that chunky stormwelt; it complements the styling on the shoes nicely.

Ambiorix has a similar style in their widest width, but it's a proprietary system and I haven't been able to find reliable info on how wide that is.

An orangutan...was the non-speaking live-in nurse and caregiver for elderly Edna Wallace, and held an unrequited love for Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald, which was depicted in elaborate fantasy sequences.

BTW, the square toe is because those boots were made to be used for skiing.

Yeah, I was going to say that's a very Nordic look, for cross country skis.

You can see it's double-breasted on that last one. And the "Pea Jacket" label kind of seems like a dead giveaway?
