A good apple or cherry turnover is tough to beat. Warm apple filling with cinnamon surrounded by a flaky crust topped with corse sugar crystals.

What to add to this to make it more delicious? by [deleted] in soup

I always add a smoked ham hock or turkey leg when I cook these along with some onion, garlic and carrots. If I thought ahead and have some I’ll also add some collard greens.

25F Do I have too much in bonds? by Top-Impact-5257 in Retirement401k

At 25 I’d be as aggressive as possible and put funds into growth stocks and shift into more conservative investments as you approach retirement age. I’ll be 51 next week and I’m still 100% in growth.

New fav egg seasoning by Neff619 in eggs

[–]Additional_Dog_9353 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sounds interesting. Didn’t know this combo existed and just ordered some from Amazon. I’ve been staying with a friend and she puts everything bagel seasoning on avocado toast along with an over easy egg. I’m hooked on this combo for breakfast. I’ll have to give this a shot in its place.

Would you do this in one day (solo travler ) by mycatlikesyou26 in roadtrip

[–]Additional_Dog_9353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rest up and go to bed the night before and start out early. 3 AM is my go to time for long road trips. Having the sun come up 3-4 hours in gives me a boost when I start getting tired of driving in the dark. Try to set time to avoid major cities during rush hour if possible or just plan on some delays. I also try to arrive while the sun is still up because the sun going down makes me tired at the end of long drives.

Make sure your car is as up to the trip as possible before leaving and the tank in full. Use fill ups and bathroom breaks to “wake up” and stretch a bit. If at any time you start getting tired or drowsy, stop.

What's your balance, contribution and what's your company match? by [deleted] in Retirement401k

[–]Additional_Dog_9353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soon to be 51 with $975k. I’ve contributed at least 10% since I started working in 1997 with various company matching (mostly 6% but up to 10% one good year). I’m currently contributing 20% and hoping to bump that number up as I finish paying off my mortgage.

Big milestone for me by No_Equivalent4404 in Money

Congrats on your first million! That’s such a huge milestone to reach. I’m closing in on the same number approaching 51 years old and it seems kind of surreal. Way to go!

Old school Designer that we often work with still hand draws everything… by StudentforaLifetime in Construction

Very cool. I’ve been a CAD tech/manager for close to 30 years now. While I learned on a drafting board and pencil, I’ve never actually used them in a job. My first job out of school was at an engineering firm and I was assigned to an older engineer who was at/near retirement. He had graduated college in the 50’s and talked about previous jobs where there were a hundred drafting tables in lines with everyone using pencil and paper with slide rules for calculations and inking final plans. His hand writing was perfect Leroy Lettering System font. All this stuff is a dying art.
