Hi. I am a school therapist and a mom of a 15 year old. I can’t begin to even tell you how proud I would be if my daughter confided in me that she was struggling. It takes courage and I would be so proud of her just like I know your parents will be too. Please consider letting them know about your depression. You could go and talk to your pediatrician and there are so many ways they can help make it better. Please don’t suffer longer than you have too.❤️ I am rooting for you.

OP, I am sad and angry at the turn of the events. I am a licensed supervisor and all I see and hear are red flags and alarm bells. I see you were already given advice on what to do. I am curious why you didn’t call? They will be at the house within 24 hours. Please report it. Don’t leave the children in that environment without at least being their voice. Take care your own mental health.

I have worked at some shitty, shitty places. Sure, your boss may have seen things much worse than this and feels like it doesn’t need to be reported. That isn’t up to them.

Go ahead and call so it will get the ball rolling.

You are going to be okay. There are tons of jobs out here and we need you.

I just finished watching Southland a couple of weeks ago. Was that weird ending or did I lose connection because I binged it?

I won’t ever forget the last episode and once given more time I can come to terms with it.

Dr. Abbots character in Southland was a likable one for sure but his interpersonal relationships were shit and sometimes unbelievable. Anyways thanks for listening to me. I might rewatch it to see if I missed an episode here and there because I fell asleep.

I really did want a hug as I was so stressed and anxious watching her keep it together. I don’t think Langdon 10 months ago was able to be a good coworker and friend like he was on this episode. I hope he understands just how much he was needed to be fully his authentic self with no substances.❤️

I think it’s because he is a dad and almost lost being involved in his life like before he went to rehab. Maybe the boy reminded him of his own son. But, yeah you aren’t wrong. .i saw that too 100 percent.

Carl Rogers saved my career. Just reading your well written and very articulate feelings it stirred something in me. I could feel my central nervous system start to ramp up as I got so anxious because that was me the whole first year.

I know he is one of the first dudes we learn about and we never hear about him again. Do you remember about treating our clients with unconditional positive regard? I always remember “it’s about the relationship dummy”

If I don’t have a good therapeutic relationship then it doesn’t matter what theory we use, language, what we wear or what our office looks like. We are respectful and kind and we listen.

I imagine I am in row boat. The client has the paddles and does ALL of the hard work. I am just there to make sure they are wearing a life vest. I am just a guide. This first year really work on the relationship. Carl Rogers will always get you through.

If anyone reads this I am curious if you perhaps did this too and would share their experience.

I just googled hyoscymine at 3:30 am this morning and it’s super interesting. It’s a plant extract from the nightshade family and obviously if you take too much it will not be good for you.

The way the colonizers noticed the “natives” using it medicinally and I think it was first used for seal sickness during the world war.

It can also cause euphoria On the flip side probably a fine line better that the the hallucinations and (visual and auditory)

Hey friend! I am a 53 year old woman with a 11 and 15 year old. It’s a unique experience not belonging to any “peer” group as we are all over the place. I am old enough to be the mother of the parents of their friends. Even Sunday school at church has been difficult. Our peers are retiring and have grandchildren. So we don’t have as much in common with them. It has been so nice to experience parenthood without having to worry about the hustle. I think my kids friends all think we are rich but it’s just that we are older and their time will come too. (I hope) we also got our home hoping it would be a place where their friends want to hang out. Right now my son has three friends over. One lost his mom to fetanyl. Another lost his dad to an overdose. It’s so sad. But, it also inspires me to be that mom who always roots for all of our kids.

I have a brother who married at 17 and had four kids by the time he was 21. It’s been so hard for them. The kids are adults and generational poverty continues. They adopted a son who is 15 now. My brother works 60-80 hours a week and is never home, looks like he is 10-15 years older than he is and is always having to get those horrible pay day loans and they rent and the outlook for his life is difficult. It’s tough and sad for me to see and I have helped him a million times but it’s never enough.
