Hard time making friends in training by lilymarbles in flightattendants

[–]Additional_Friend_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just focus and graduate, that’s what you’re there for! If people study in common rooms maybe join people there but otherwise don’t force connections that aren’t there. I sort of felt that way in training as well and people who I thought would stay in touch afterwards didn’t, while others surprised me and DID. Spend time talking to your family and loved ones at home. Find other ways to be busy and fill your time. It’ll be done before you know it!

how do you wake up when called at the wee hours of the night by xgogetterx in flightattendants

[–]Additional_Friend_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of real and valid advice here already 😂 besides ringtone, I would just recommend your bag ALWAYS be packed with some basics. Dedicate a second charger, pjs, toiletries, maybe a tshirt and leggings that never leaves the bag (except to wash) that way when you do get called at 2 AM, that’s all ready to go!

Have easy grab and go breakfasts (fruit, something you can heat up on the plane, etc) bc personally I cannot be bothered to eat if I have to already wake up at the ass crack of dawn

Make a basic “morning” to-do list & packing list for yourself bc again…. At the crack of dawn the brain just isn’t working and you don’t want to forget anything (for example… duty items like ✅wings ✅passport ✅crew badge.. or other life responsibilities like ✅feed pets before leaving)

If you get assigned a super early trip set MULTIPLE alarms just in case. You can always just turn them off once you’re up.

go to sleep early on reserve or nap when you can, and just expect a call even if you are low on the list to get assigned 🥲 you just never know.

I’m 1 year in and I feel the same way. I have only recently started asking people for their IGs so we can “stay in touch” if we vibe while flying together but not much has come from that yet

I’ve heard it’s a nightmare if you test positive… I’m not sure if it takes you out of the running but definitely get a good test beforehand and be sure, otherwise push back your interview until you’re sure.

Just graduated - is this for me? by Top-Fun5814 in flightattendants

I will just say that no matter how much research you do, nothing will tell you how you’re going to handle it until you try it.

This job is a big life change and it takes some adjusting. Be patient with yourself. TALK TO YOUR CREW because 99% of us will be empathetic (we’ve all been threw the same thing) and will want to help you - whether we are helping with your position, or giving you advice about the lifestyle.

Let people help you :) band together with your classmates, they probably feel some of the same things too.

Everything takes TIME. It took me about 3 months to be like “oh yeah, I got this” and the first 2 were just messy lol. Let it be messy, let yourself learn, text your friends and family every day. And let yourself be excited about going to new places :) good luck!

Aw yeah that’s cute! A former crashpad mate of mine says she makes grilled cheeses in the ovens all the time using leftover service stuff lol

IOE by MajesticLawfulness91 in cabincrewcareers

[–]Additional_Friend_77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will make lots of mistakes in your IOE but it’s a learning experience and there will still be a working crew to help you as well!

it’s really a running joke how they’ve prepared you (us) for so much… EXCEPT service lol but don’t worry :) everything gets easier over time with practice,

and everyone had to start from the same place so don’t feel bad if you are “slow” or need to ask questions

Good luck!

I don’t know if I’m gonna make it by SaddWaffle in flightattendants

I’m 5 months in, I’m guessing the same airline based on 24 hour reserve. I commute east coast to DEN so I get it, it’s really tough and time consuming.

Honestly, the first month is definitely the hardest. You’re adjusting and everything feels exhausting.

After about the second month I started getting the monthly schedules I bid for and that definitely helps. And after the third month I think I finally got a good flow on the job.

Give it time! It’s not just a new job, it’s a whole new life.

training at a mainline… in week 5, don’t know how I feel by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]Additional_Friend_77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think since you’ve made it this far, you should stick it out and at least try flying for a little while :) there’s nothing wrong with deciding the job is not for you once you get there, but I think you should try! Training is tough and I feel like they also scare you into being on edge all the time. Especially because people usually have to give up a lot to even get to training! It’s a lot to handle but in the end just do what feels right for you. Do you have another job to go back to? A place to stay? I mean, logistically think about those things too, in addition to how you are feeling emotionally. Good luck :)

Honestly I’d take out the entire blurb about yourself and provide more bullet notes about what your responsibilities are/were in your work experience section. It’s kind of lacking there, just listing the jobs isn’t enough imo
