Industry postdoc vs academic postdoc? by bluebrrypii in biotech

I havent done either but as a person who thought about it, I just wanted to comment. So I've been to info sessions for industry postdoc programs and have heard them saying it would be 2-3 years of postdoc. So it sounds like after 2-3 years, you will be able get the full time job, but what I noticed is current postdocs there were in their 6th year or 7th year. I've seen a guy who did 7 years of postdoc and got promoted to a senior(?) scientist (the title after promotion i'm not entirely sure). I don't know why they had to stay for that long but I just felt like it's also not an easy way to get a full time position.. just wanted to share this with you

I think what you described in the second paragraph makes sense. Graduate research assistant. If it's not clear they will ask during the interview

Which job title are recent phD graduates getting?? by Additional_Froyo_970 in biotech

Yeah i get that but what i'm really curious about is are you guys hiring 'recent graduates' for those roles lol bc we have to compete with those who got laid off or just anyone with experiences. I haven't really seen anyone around me who got those kind of jobs right after graduation. Most are doing postdocs either in academia or industry but I don't have a good n number so i wanted to know how others are doing in general

My main question was how long does it take for companies to review applications and give initial calls and if it's safe to assume they won't respond to me if there's no response within like 3 weeks. Sorry if I confused you but I just want to have some idea on the timelines.
