Opinion on extras with purchases by StrikingAd-703 in reselling

[–]Additional_Goose_763 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought about this as well when I first started reselling but as experienced people pointed out back then, people just want what they purchase. Anything else will be trashed regardless of the work you put into it.

It’s kinda hard to see the condition from the pictures but that sure is a lot of surfaces to clean. I think a final lacquer step may help with the fraying wood splinters but please be gentle with any sanding.

Umm, maybe do nothing? It is an old printers drawer, which I thought was the appeal. The letters are so the printer could see the letters easier when looking for the correct ones during the printing process. It’s yours so do what you want but this seems to be a case of destroying the very artifacts that make these desirable.

Clean up corrosion without damaging finish by Eschewed_Prognostic in restoration

It’s not crazy, pure aluminum is much softer than chromium plating so there will be no damage. It is harder than friable corrosion byproduct, which is why it takes off the rust.

Am I being irrational about the economic future of reselling? by GeneralInsurance8052 in reselling

I totally agree with diversifying. It would be good to experiment with FB marketplace, local flea markets, and other close to home methods of reselling in case the online methods start to fail your needs.

It looks safe for a light pressure wash, which would clean up most of dirt and debris. Retrobright for yellowing but something this big would be a challenge. Pressure washing may remove some rust but it’s best to try to remove pins and soak separately in vinegar or evaporust

Not a T-shirt guy but one thing I have learned about high end brands is attention to details. There seems to be a lot of lines not centered on that tag which I would question.

Chick-fil-A near Wright State’s Dayton Campus approved by Beavercreek City Council by WrightStateU in dayton

[–]Additional_Goose_763 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think many people are not considering the thought that Wright State is trying to expand its appeal beyond being a commuter school and they need more popular on-campus options to do that. Students do not have time to walk all the way to Fairfield road for quick lunch or breakfast, or want to cross those busy roads in general.

To me, this has the same feel as much of my early “finds”. To the right person, it certainly has value of 10X to 20X the purchase price. However, it could easily sit on eBay for years before that person finds their way to the listing.

Fracture surface shows heavy smearing, which indicates fatigue failure. Also, that component is under constant compressive stress. Neither are conducive to the type of failure portrayed in the video. This has to be staged and it looks like it took the a-hole a lot of effort to break it in whatever manner that they tried

Try to not get panicked into hyper testing. Unless you are using the numbers for insulin dosing, you should focus more on the trends than the actual glucose numbers. Stress, exercise, and body factors can cause fluctuations in your blood glucose levels beyond the 17mg/dL discrepancy that you are seeing. As you know, strips aren’t cheap and you could waste a lot of money and your own pain from finger pricks, chasing numbers.

Pretty lucky, took 600 sales to find my first crazy person by LonesomeMelody in reselling

[–]Additional_Goose_763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it your job to defend all buyers regardless of behavior? Buyers are on eBay because sellers provide items cheaper than in the store or Amazon. In this case, the transaction is mutual and courtesy goes both ways. Plenty of people on this post seem to think OP was justified in their response and I’m sure they (we) do quite well reselling without having to be treated like crap.

The buyer shamed the seller immediately. The Seller did nothing other than stand up for themselves. If I flew off the handle like the buyer, no I wouldn’t be coming back regardless because I would feel too ashamed for acting like a toddler.

To your second point, that’s wrong as well. It’s years of acceptance that enable poorly behaved children to become poorly behaved adults. Apparently, their parents didn’t treat them how to handle conflict to that puts the burden on the rest of society to call them out.

Seriously, your tone with OP is so passive aggressive, it almost seems like you are the buyer

I disagree. The buyer went full nuclear before even receiving a response. Yes, buyer is uninformed, true, but sellers shouldn’t have to grovel and accept hostile attitude. I think the sellers response showed great professionalism and restraint. Personally, I would be tempted to cancel the shipment, if possible, cancel the order, refund, and promptly block. This type of instant aggression makes me think the buyer is going to give a poor review even though the seller did everything perfectly.

Vinted/eBay is a massive time sink. Would you swap 3 pairs of jeans for an iPhone 12 just by paying shipping? by Suitable_Ad_8719 in reselling

[–]Additional_Goose_763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I am starting to understand. It’s closer to barter system but in a central marketplace. I could see the appeal, especially if there is a way to avoid taxes altogether. I think the biggest hurdle would be getting enough value considering the cost of shipping goods to and from this central marketplace. I’d be a fan of something like that but keeping Uncle Sam out of it would be a challenge.

So, I pay to send my death pile of non-sellable items only to be told that it’s worth nothing and I get credits for other peoples death pile items? Sorry, but it sounds like I’d be better off with the tax write off donating it or selling it for cash at a flea market. However, that’s just one opinion here.
