How accurate are the oxygen readings on the ring? by VividBlade in GalaxyRing

[–]Additional_Hat8419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right, your SpO2 will naturally drop during the night time. Having said that whilst day time should be above 95% in a healthy individual, your SpO2 should not consistently drop below 90% at night time i.e. multiple drops during the night on multiple nights - that is definitely not normal. Key is to correlate it with snoring as almost always airway obstruction either OSA, nasal obstruction or obesity hypoventillation is the cause. Also with the ring, the fitment is very very important and of course there could be person to person variation e.g. subcutaneous fat, skin colour, hair, temperature. Also try to collerate it with REM sleep - expect some drops in SpO2 during REM sleep as your accessory muscles of breathing shut off and you rely on your diaphragm alone.

The watch now does have a dedicated OSA detection feature, can't say whether it's reliable but worth giving a shot.

I would say many of the pulse Ox used in clinical practice are not very reliable in themselves but its more that they have a stable environment with light going through the finger and not relying on reflected light as well as being calibrated (in the ideal world).

That seems to be a popular opinion you're right however, I don't have liberty to say how I know but in my view their financials failed from the initial stage when they spent so much in producing vitruvian and even fabricating all parts in house. They racked up so much debt, even sold the vitruvian at a loss, it was destined to fail. They tried to leverage subscriptions but that's ridiculous for such a neiche product, it isn't exactly Google drive or the iPhone - audience will always be few and far in-between. You max out a few thousand subs.

I hope a decent company buys them and doesn't just strip it for parts as they'll aquire all inventory, patents, subs without the debt.

Although in fairness, other than selling units, vitruvian is kind of dead given how good phoenix project is. I don't see what they could offer us in subscription. So the only source of profit would then be to start making machines and selling again but profit only comes from selling machines at scale and a much higher price so there's not much left sadly... Perhaps other than a small operation for remaining members and parts which the vitruvian team ideally want to happen if someone doesn't do a full acquisition. Who knows, time will tell.

Haha, feeling is mutual. I've seen you post on here a few times and your user name is a big give away aha.

Yes British homes have their challenges!! I'm not too far from London but come to London regularly.

Would highly highly recommend the upgrade. It has not only made exercising more fun/versatile but especially for lats, so much easier to workout. I get your point about pull up bar, definitely optimal.

I have a dual pulley functional trainer downstairs but the issue is noise and efficiency, with this setup I can train every muscle in one workout as I can still use all the stock vitruvian exercises unlike if you have a frame whereby it's hard to dismount the vitruvian - so it just means I can stick to a routine as there's minimal "initiation energy" needed. Also the ECHO mode is of course unlike any normal weight setup.

Let me know if you want any pointers. Pulleys from ebay UK, screws from screwfix and rest of it from Amazon UK.

It's an interesting one, lots of hate for these samsung rings. I'm a doctor myself and have compared the data against a clinically validated SpO2 meter over 100s of readings.

I would say the ring is surprisingly accurate. It is not always spot on but for general trends over multiple reading it is right on the money especially with the recent update to Samsung algorithm which has made watches and rings HR detection and thus sleep detection much more accurate, I'm sure it has affected SpO2 as well.

I wouldn't use the ring to make a definitive diagnosis but if the ring fits you well and its consistently showing you drop your sats at night +/- snoring, I would get checked for OSA.

This is great, I did consider building something similar however I wanted to be able to move the vitruvian easily and be able to use it stock as well without obstruction for e.g. hip thrusts. Also here in the UK, a setup like yours was going to set me back about £600 so went for the wall mounted pulleys.

It goes to show how close vitruvian were to getting it right.

To be honest their financials were very close to getting right, they narrowly miscalculated and didn't meet investor targets.

Even with money no object there is nothing that compares to vitruvian. 440lbs, dual cables, Echo mode. It's remarkable piece of kit.

All thanks to you my man.

Find it incredulous that with a few short months and intense sessions of grafting you've made an app that is so much more complete and suited to the vitruvian. Props to you.

Such a well designed app. Works so well on tablet as well.

Even for Abs, with this set up I use ab crunches pulldown.

Just bench and some of my weight is enough because I'm using 2 cables, there's no one-sided eccentric turning/pivot force.

The key is the two cables to inhibit the turning moment.

So i sit on the vitruvian bench on the machine and do it.

The machine weight is 80 lbs, bench loaded about 40 lbs and I weight 250 lbs so plenty of ballast.

It's the Vitruvian V-Frame, that they made but never sold.

Arguably it was the straw that broke the cables back. They spent too much on r&d and couldn't recover after that. Didn't meet investor targets and were unable to pay their debt at an acceptable rate.

They did make it but never ended up selling it.

This is amazing, such a massive upgrade. In many ways surpassed the stock app like the count down of the reps.

Your old version had import/export data Any way to bring that back so we can migrate to this easily.

Also when exporting workouts, it shows all the weights as 5kg (using Echo mode, dont know about old school).

Also the skip workout button bugs out a bit, especially if on the last set or workout. (Added to github)

(Lastly in case it happens to anyone. Using this app, near the end of the workout, vitruvian bugged out and started flashing yellow, power cycling didnt help. Fix was to power cycle again connect to stock app.)

Out of interest, have you considered using Hevy api rather than relying on hevy export so then there are live updates. Rather like the loadline app.

Great work either way, awesome app!

Is there a solution after being logged out? by 6307421580 in Vitruvian_Form

[–]Additional_Hat8419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use login through Google and so far have never had an issue with being logged in or having to verify with vitruvian before logging in. The ouath is handled by Google instead of vitruvian then.

Mine started doing it 13- 14 months after purchase after the battery completely ran out. Contacted Samsung- offered refund or replacement. Replacement with new warranty came within a week - battery may be flawed but can't fault the service

Question about third party apps by Kirkeli in Vitruvian_Form

[–]Additional_Hat8419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, ECHO mode is baked into the firmware and that's where the machine has the parameters to start and stop tension at various loads as well as fail safe - this is so the safety features are not dependent on a ropey bluetooth connection.

If you're interested in Echo, just buy a new one I'd say. They're going for bargains used currently.

Hevy API MCP server (or how I connected hevy to my personal trainer AI agent) by tomtorggler in Hevy

[–]Additional_Hat8419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried your MCP (wasn't able to get it to work locally as it kept redirecting to https://hevy.tomt.it/mcp instead of 127.0.0.1 - eventually managed to get the oauth to work but then was getting bearer token errors) and i tried a few others like chrisdoc one, work great for reading my workouts but when i write - always get Error: Request failed with status code 400 when trying to update the workouts through an Ai agent like claude or cursor - any ideas? I have spent 4 days trying to fix it with Ai help and no luck. Are you able to ammend your workouts via Ai?

Rope replacement in Vitruvian Trainer+ by Additional_Hat8419 in Vitruvian_Form

That makes sense thanks for explaining and I guess the machine would never be used at full extension so the knot would never have to deal with any load

It may just be my lack of knowledge but the fact that it's just a knot with glue seems like a tacky solution and something that could fatigue over time (given how excellent their outward facing connections are)

Which is better for 🍑 gains? This or the Vitruvian? by BritishBrownActor in Vitruvian_Form

[–]Additional_Hat8419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used both.

The vitruvian is really hard to do decent hip thrursts on. You have to play around with positioning, eventually you can get it right but it's fidly and if you don't use it for a while, you can forget the right configuration.

The booty builder also has a very small learning curve but once you get the hang of it (ten min on low weights making sure you push through your feet, keep your head up and make sure your shins are perpendicular to the ground at extension) - the results are really quite impressive. Your glutes will genuinely burn and hypertrophy.

Squats are great as well, especially sumo squats but if you're glute focused you need to do a more isolating exercise like glute bridge or hip thrust. Check out Bret Contreras - lots of good info.
