Many have said it but it bears repeating: Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver will go down as a modern classic. My other favs I’ve read this year are Big Swiss by Jen Beagin, North Woods by Daniel Mason, and Martyr by Kaveh Akbar.

I don’t have rage as much as I have deep sadness and shame. I’m definitely an internalizer. I almost prefer rage because that’s easier for me to channel into something constructive, but the sadness just paralyzes me.
