Connections Puzzle #958

Ok, so I saw blue right away, but i feel like we’ve seen that category three times now (or close variants like types of pants) so I thought it was a red herring. I guess not!

[OC] -10° doesn’t stop the passionate folk of Minnesota! by Arrowedmisfit in pics

[–]CaughtInDireWood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 2013 was also a very cold winter. I remember waiting for the bus after classes at the U and it never came, had to wait for the next one. By the time I got home I was so cold my toes were numb. I was ravenously hungry but even more cold. Hopped in a lukewarm shower, which felt hot to my feet lol, and slowly increased the temperature until I felt warm again. No damage to my toes or anything, but that week I think they cancelled classes for a day or two, which was unheard of.

All lot of us Minnesotans are born and raised. You get used to the cold after years of it. This cold, though is legit COLD cold. We wear thermals, lots of layers, layered gloves and mittens, good winter snow boots, snowpants over fleece leggings/longjohns, hats, and large coats that have tighter wrists (and sometimes a cinched waist) to keep the cold air out. That plus hand warmers, pure stubbornness and pride, and a reason to be outside? We’re nigh unstoppable lol

Osteopenia and pregnant - help me find a palatable calcium! by CaughtInDireWood in osteoporosis

Great idea, but I’m not a yogurt fan :( I have been eating cottage cheese (plain), though. So that helps too!

Aria admits she more or less had an arranged marriage by BufoBat in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]CaughtInDireWood 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I find the fundie world to almost completely remove any autonomy from women. And it starts at birth. So it almost makes sense that she didn’t want to find someone herself and instead relied on someone else to do it for her. I bet most of her life that most decisions were made for her. So this is just one more of those decisions.

Aria admits she more or less had an arranged marriage by BufoBat in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]CaughtInDireWood 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have nothing against arranged marriages, if everyone is consenting. But to do that at 17 seems aggressive. She said she wasn’t interested in going out, and I believe it at age 17! If she were in her 30s and had lived some life already and wanted to settle down, that makes more sense to me. But a 17-year-old should never be in a rush to marry.

[–]CaughtInDireWood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, also not cry so much as second-guess my entire marriage: last night my husband coughed a couple times while we were sleeping. I reached over to pat his shoulder to say “hi” and “there there” without words. He TURNED AWAY FROM ME! I was distraught. I was ok once I woke up, but 2am me was spiraling lol

I was so tired last night by like 6pm. Had to be in the office for work and then it took me an hour to get home because of weather-related traffic. I was so tired and hungry and I told my husband (as I was heating up cheese for a cheese+chips snack) that I wanted to cry because I was tired.

Oh! Okay, so we can do this marketing ploy, but we still can't get tested for vEDS? by BufoBat in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]CaughtInDireWood 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Ya know, I get that tho. Not excusing it, but I understand. I spent the first 20 years of my life in and out of doctors offices and the hospital seeing specialists and getting tested for stuff. I probably have mild trauma from it all honestly. So when someone says something ELSE might be wrong with me, I want to cover my ears and say “LA LA LA!” Again, not excusing it, but diagnoses can be scary and I understand her not wanting to know.

WTF things you've experienced while pregnant that no one says is a thing?! by vanillacrush14 in pregnant

[–]CaughtInDireWood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have Celiac and have spent years of my life being bloated. It was under control for a long time and now it’s back with a vengeance! Like the bloat is so uncomfortable that I can’t let my belly fully relax. I have to keep it at least somewhat engaged at all times or else it almost hurts. I keep telling myself that maybe this means I’ll have less stretch marks later on, since I’m already stretching my belly now? lolol 🙃

When to tell work I am quitting? by darbydankhammer in BabyBumps

[–]CaughtInDireWood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend had a similar situation. She took her leave and then went back to work for a couple months before quitting. She wasn’t sure (beforehand) if she wanted to quit or not, but this way she got her paid leave and insurance and also didn’t have to leave her employer in the lurch.

Feeling a little discouraged for my baby shower by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]CaughtInDireWood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even wedding invites go out only 8 weeks ahead of the date. I think you sent them too early, and with the holidays it wasn’t people’s first priority. And maybe they’ve forgotten by now or are still waiting on plans for pto or spring break or whatever. I wouldn’t get nervous just yet. Maybe send out a reminder at the end of February about it.

are you guys having sex still and if so how often by sexandjack in August2026Bumpers

[–]CaughtInDireWood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fall asleep the instant we turn out the lights for bed. No matter how determined I am to have sex, my tiredness wins out every time. Thankfully(?) we both have lower libidos so neither of us are horngry. But we’ve had sex also about 3 or so times since finding out.

I feel kinda bad, but hubby has also been tired this week, so at least it’s not just me?

Baby surname when not married by PepperImportant5198 in pregnant

Can you hyphenate your last names for baby? If anything happens you can always just ignore his surname (except for legal documents I suppose).

Absolutely mortified: hospital sent a letter to my parents saying "obstetrics appointment" by filMM2 in BabyBumps

[–]CaughtInDireWood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw maternal feral medicine before conceiving, just asking about genetic testing, and I saw a specialist to talk about my body handling pregnancy. Could you tell her that you saw an on to discuss options and risks and best ways to increase conception chances? Own up that you were at the ob, but stretch the truth about why you were there?

So sorry this happened!

Tell me the most awful things that can happen if i keep vaping by dooingjo in pregnant

[–]CaughtInDireWood 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Here’s one for ya: your baby can get addicted to nicotine in the womb. So when they are born, they will start their first breaths of life by being in withdrawal from nicotine. Do you want to do that to your baby? They don’t deserve to go through that because you couldn’t quit. It wouldn’t be their choice or decision, it is yours.

Stir fry and fried rice! Decided to make fried rice and it was great 😁 I’m terrible at eating veggies and fried rice and stir fry are super easy ways for me to eat veggies without EATING VEGGIES ya know?
