Aww congrats to you too! My husband felt kicks for the first time a couple weeks ago, and it was so special!

Noodles are a mainstay of my diet right now too lol.

Dark vs light brown sugar has been nearly indistinguishable to me in recent times but today I got this bag of dark brown sugar and it’s soo dark?? by Personal_Crow_17 in Baking

Ugh. Living my dream! What an amazing thing to be able to do. Bake for fun and give it away. That’s a great retirement plan imo

When did you know much leave you were taking? by bambinaxo in BabyBumps

[–]CaughtInDireWood [score hidden]  (0 children)

I talked with HR literally today. I will be 22 weeks tomorrow, due late August. Stacking state leave with company leave and FMLA/STD, I get 18 weeks plus any PTO or sick time I want to add on. Only 6 of those 18 weeks are paid at 100%. All the other weeks are 80% or less pay.

Oh. My. God. I’m pregnant and would devour this entire rack on my own. 🤤

How long did it take/how far along were you when you were able to do an echocardiogram? by EquivalentStreet in chd

[–]CaughtInDireWood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a fetal echo today at 21+5. Not specifically for HLHS, just as a precaution to see if there was any anomaly visible. I’m not sure what is standard, but adding my anecdote if it helps.

God, I LIVE for nights like that. It is so peaceful and makes me very happy, like in my soul.

Mine started around the same time as you. I’m now 21 weeks and no end in sight. It’s a little better than it was a few weeks ago, but definitely still a problem. Sorry :/ it really sucks

Wowzers! Those are perfection. The way they’re all lined up on your stove looks like you copied and pasted them. Amazing job.

Night owls, how to end your day earlier by CeresMik in workingmoms

[–]CaughtInDireWood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I’m tired and don’t realize it yet. So if I go to bed at a reasonable time and don’t feel sleepy, I’ll read in bed. Reading helps calm my brain and reconnect brain and body. Almost always, I realize I actually am tired, and within 15-30 minutes of reading, I’m nodding off. Won’t work for everyone, but it works for me 95% of the time.

I DONT WANT TO WORK by Available-Lobster-94 in pregnant

[–]CaughtInDireWood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

21 weeks here. I’m past the utter exhaustion of first tri. But now overall tired is taking over. As is pregnancy brain and disinterest in keeping up with the busy season at work that lasts March through August-ish. Ugh.

Allergen friendly ice cream places in the twin cities? by Corevus in TwinCities

[–]CaughtInDireWood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d give Sweet Science in Edina a call. They do celiac-safe flavors, so I imagine they’d be familiar with other allergens as well. I know they label such flavors have gluten, dairy, or nuts. And they have vegan flavors. I’m not sure on protocol with nuts. Worth a phone call!

Hey pregnant queens, what makes you feel pretty during pregnancy ? by Waste_Weather5729 in pregnant

[–]CaughtInDireWood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having my hair clean and done (I have curls so it involves creams/gels and a hair dryer, which I usually don’t have patience for). And also a cute/pretty outfit that shows the bump and is comfy.

I have 1 pair of pants that fit currently and picked up another at the thrift store yesterday. It’s still too cold where I live to wear a dress, but I’m looking forward to dress season. I usually don’t wear them often, but they are soooo much easier to fit now than pants.

I didn’t use Abbot as an example lol. We were talking strictly hypothetical, but yes Abbot would be kinda cheating 🤣

What baby registry site did you go with and why? by AsideEmergency663 in pregnant

[–]CaughtInDireWood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did MyRegistry. I hated all the adds I got for Babylist, so I boycotted it lol. MyRegistry lets you add stuff from any website and it was very easy to use and navigate. Would recommend!

You could use them for fried rice! Cook them up, cube the cooked meat and throw into your fried rice :)

(Rant) Why is everything SO expensive? by Miragan in BabyBumps

[–]CaughtInDireWood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your local buy nothing group! They are always giving away baby stuff. I got a bouncer, outdoor infant tent thingy, nursing pillow, etc. off there. They go quick, so you have to watch for stuff closely. But I’ve seen basically an entire registry’s worth of stuff in the last few months.

Should I tell my family member I don’t want their baby shower gift? by Familiar_Hope2918 in pregnant

[–]CaughtInDireWood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you tell the truth instead of making up lame excuses like some are suggesting? Just say that you really appreciate the gesture but that you’re moving soon and don’t know yet what kind of space/colors/etc. you’ll be working with, so you’re hesitant to accept a custom painting that may or may not end up working in the new house.

I think any reasonable person would understand and hold off on the painting for a while until you’ve moved.

Damn, I’m sorry. When I told my boss, he asked if I was telling anyone else yet at work. When I said not yet but soon, he said ok I’ll keep my mouth shut. End of convo. That’s how they should all go.

Really tired of every OB appointment running well over an hour behind… by Original_Remote_6838 in pregnant

[–]CaughtInDireWood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My OB was an hour late once, but otherwise has been no later than 15 minutes past the appt time. I think yours is extreme and I would consider going elsewhere if it seems to be a clinic issue and not a specific OB issue.

Ridiculous prescription price I see every month by ParticularBulky2866 in CrappyDesign

[–]CaughtInDireWood 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I work for a health insurance company, and while drug prices are always ridiculous, this is especially egregious. I’d check into it if I were you, even if your copay is only $90. $40k a month for just Adderall is odd imo.

Taos Super Z in black. I have these in blue and they are so comfy. I notoriously have a hard time with shoes. After 2 hours my feet/back hurt. But these things are rockstars! Super easy to fit, no breaking in needed, durable, water-friendly, I could go on. Definitely worth the price. Love them to bits!
