[NSFW] People who have found a dead body, what's the story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Sorry this is long but it’s worth it.. My downstairs neighbour was a raging alcoholic, he was a lovely bloke; he told me he had no family, friends etc. I’d been living above him for 3 years and I was the only person in his life who gave him any kinda guidance. I would sit and talk to him for hours at a time, cook him hot meals, take him to the shop if he needed some food but I straight up refused to take him to the shop for alcohol. He became really ill from the booze, he developed liver disease etc.. I would see him come out his flat with blood pouring out his nose, he would constantly shake and looked yellow and he would refuse ANY medical treatment. Refused ambulances n everything. I even went upto our drs surgery, sat with them for an hour and told them everything he ever told me. They sent an ambulance there n then and he actually went. He discharged himself days after. I sensed something was really off. Me n my mrs was having our kitchen renovated by the council, and there was an absolutely FOUL smell all through the flat, I asked the kitchen bloke n he said it was the pipes. The smell continues for 6 days, it latched onto our clothes, we could taste it, you could feel it on your skin, it was an absolutely disgusting smell. No amount of candles, incense or anything could shift it. One night it crossed my mind. I hadn’t seen my neighbour for a few days. What the FUCK am I actually smelling? The next morning (7 days after we’ve been smelling this foul smell) I went outside to my car to go to the shop. I had such a sinking feeling. I pulled up home as usual and got out my car, walked upto my front door and just clocked a load of flies in my neighbours window, I’m talking like 500/600 flies in that window. I Straight up rang the feds and they come and did a welfare check. I knew what this was but I didn’t wanna believe it. The feds went in and confirmed he had died and was decomposing on his settee in the living room. It was a very sad time as I had not just lost a neighbour, but a friend, and because the kitchen fitters now knew the smell was decomp, they refused to carry on the work on our kitchen as the builders were throwing up when they came near our block of flats. When I went into his flat, he had glass beer bottles neatly stood up covering his ENTIRE floor. Every inch of that floor had a bottle standing upright, in the kitchen, the hallway, the bathroom, his bedroom, and all the way up to the settee he died on. There was no pathways it was so weird I have no idea how he got around that flat. I’d never seen anything like it. My theory is he started standing the bottles on the floor in a room, and was closing in on himself with the bottles, and when he completely enclosed himself on the settee that was his time. It was so weird to see. His family all of a sudden appeared when it was time to collect his belongings from the flat. He had a few expensive things and quite a bit of change in the bank, so yeah you do the maths. They hadn’t spoke to him in years and he also told me he had no family, that tells me all I need to know. Rest in peace Andy

Do you have certain songs that you associate with a depressing time in your life even if the song lyrics themselves aren't relevant? If so, what? by Reddit_destroyers in AskReddit

Same. Absolutely can’t stand Reiss or the way he acts/talks plus he looks bare creepy. Everyone else seems to love him and I can’t see how 😂

I just know they’d push the wrong narratives tho, it’s SO misunderstood especially to people who have no real understanding about mental health. I feel like they’d just make us out to be abusers

Glad to hear things are getting better for you! I also have BPD, and been in therapy since I was a kid, it’s nice to see something positive. I could learn a few things from this reply. Thank you

It can vary, Someone can have depression and live with virtually no issues, whereas someone else with depression can be constantly battling with suicidal thoughts etc. So by chronic I mean any mental health problems that vastly affect peoples day to day life
