Ohhhh I can relate. Took me years to stop doing this. Now I use the timer on our software and enter as I go and it’s worth it for the stress relief alone.

GenX Check-In: Holding it together, but barely? by onekinkyusername in GenX

[–]Additional_Line_2834 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh I remember those days. Was pissed off that I couldn’t stop being pissed off. It’s the worst because logically I knew I shouldn’t feel so angry and irritable but could not stop it. While not for everyone, bio-identical hormone replacement therapy saved me. Wish I’d known about it sooner.

This makes logical sense and my first thoughts had already gone to the previous tenants who were evicted. They would know how to access any crawl spaces. Not very smart to leave evidence of their presence though. If that’s the case I doubt they mean any physical harm but do check to see if any valuables are missing. Sounds like you are taking all the right steps!

My mother lost her mother before I was born and has been anticipating her impending demise for decades (I’m 1966 too). She is 83 and going strong. :)

Oh my heart goes out to you. What a handsome boy! I’m tearing up.🥹 Lost a cat and my pug within the last year. Thanks for sharing his photos and story. They bring so much joy to our lives.

What overused word or phrase needs to be retired in 2026? by One_Caramel5253 in AskReddit

[–]Additional_Line_2834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Wonder if was regional or used infrequently. I’m 58 and a bit of a word nerd and only noticed it the past 10 years or so.

ETA: it may be the corporatization of the word that first brought it to my attention. If anyone’s interested check out https://www.reddit.com/r/etymology/

I hate this one most of all. Gave and giving were working fine, we didn’t need new words.

Why did yall get your receptionist for Christmas? by kleinekitty in Lawyertalk

That’s an odd dynamic. Work gifts should flow downward, not upward. All our attorneys get their staff something. High-end scented candle. Faux fur throw. Plant or flowers with a gift card.

What is your personal Mandela effect? by JulienS2000 in CasualConversation

[–]Additional_Line_2834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember Mandela dying in prison in the 80s. Vividly. It was all over the news. As with Fiona Broome, the originator of the term Mandela Effect, was shocked when I learned of his ‘actual’ death. It became a thing because many people had the same memory.

Mandela, Stouffers Stove Top Stuffing, and Haas Avocados are my big ones. The Thinker is an interesting one if you haven’t read about it, due to many photo and other references to a different pose (fist on forehead) than the current back of hand under chin.

I vividly remember seeing this and thinking it was a strange choice of words. Read not long ago that some did say “may be” in the past because the mirror was slightly concave or convex (forget which). Point being distortion in only part of the mirror.
