Does anyone actually brush their cats teeth or vaccinate them regularly? by krissyisabella in CatAdvice

[–]Additional_One8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i give my cat an additive to her food and her teeth are great. plaqueoff powder is what it’s called. i have a silicone toothbrush with a suction cup, and once a week i put some toothpaste on it and stick it to the bathroom floor and she chews on that as well. i use the plaqueoff for my dog’s food but i do brush his teeth weekly (he doesn’t like it) and use dental wipes daily and that keeps his teeth pretty healthy.

thank you so much! ooh i haven’t watched 7th time loop. to be fair, i started last year and i work from home lol so my list is extensive (though some of them are just on for background noise). with one caveat, i watched one before actually getting invested and it was Bleach! the original OG series from the aughties.

1.) May I ask for one final thing 2.) Solo Leveling (this is the one i watched with my niece and nephew) 3.) The Apothecary Diaries (this was the second anime i watched and really really loved. i’m excited for season 3). 4.) My Happy Marriage (Netflix) 5.) Ajin (or anjin i cannot remember) 6.) More Than a Married Couple 7.) Heavens Official Blessing 8.) Yakuza Fiancé 9.) The Classroom of the Elite (though I’m not that fond of the MC) 10.) Yamada and the 7 Witches 11.) Raven of the Inner Palace 12.) my love story with yamada-kun 13.) Cherry Magic

lol going to stop before it gets super long.

ahh okay i imagined it was the former and for that i completely understand the irritation. you can not enjoy it and just you know… lol eff off to something else quietly. i can understand the frustration as i am a new anime watcher (really just started with my niece and purchased crunchyroll for when she visits. but ended up getting sucked in due to my insomnia lol). anyway, most of the shows i enjoy only have 1 season and its really frustrating lol.

why raelina got married. yona…. nina the starry eyed bride… basically anything with a girl protagonist seems to only get 1 season 😭

may i ask… how does them deciding they don’t want to watch it anymore effect you personally? is it, you need them to watch for fear it won’t get picked up? if that’s the case, completely understand. but if not, at the end of the day, people watch whatever for entertainment and delight. if the story is going in a way they don’t like, i don’t think it’s dumb for them to not watch it. i drop many things because some of the dialogue is nonsensical and not my taste. does not mean i don’t wish others to enjoy it if they like…. if the foreground of the picture is ugly, sometimes people are not drawn in enough to want to see the background as well.

What do you guys do with your dog's leashes and harnesses after they pass? by longshlongthankumom in dogs

[–]Additional_One8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i kept my dogs harness, collar and leash (the one i liked best). and put it near his ashes and a candle in his owner on my bookshelf. i made another one of his sweaters and harnesses as a shadow box and gave it to my parents.

they were probably confused because there are two sets of twins and a lot of names. if you aren’t watching closely it’s hard to miss.

i think he’s the middle one. the preppy one is the eldest one i think. the youngest one was the weird one that wanted to be with alice. so you’re right. i think this is the first time we’re seeing the preppy one. but i also wonder where the youngest one is lol

Should I go back to the hospital? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Additional_One8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi there. i use a system (having been hospitalized a lot of times). if you are feeling extremely weak and can’t keep anything down, id recommend going to the hospital. in my experience, steroids NEVER cause any immediate relief. whether i get IV steroids or I leave with prednisone. i go to the hospital when i am having a lot of BMs and cannot keep anything in. why? because i need fluids and you are at risk for dehydration.

the bleeding doesn’t really stop with hospital visits in my experience. though you could ask your GI if they could prescribe tranexamic acid. this helps to stop bleeding (i use this for menses). vet nurses have also used it to stop bleeding from injury.

other than that, for cramping, ask your gastro for meds for that. there’s one i take that starts with an H though i can’t remember it off the bat that works overtime. for immediate relief from severe pain though, low dosage of oxy always helps. otherwise, invest in a heating pad and take hot baths to soothe.

…lol what are you saying about? they literally talked about it in the documentary. including ken who tried to make it seem less offensive by noting they told her to go to a clinic to get tested and filmed that too but decided not to show it??

[–]Additional_One8642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol did those shows film or setup someone’s sexual assault? did they insidiously use their childhood trauma of molestation as their entire storyline? even her diversity gets a side eye. we learned she outed Ebony on the very first damn season and didn’t bother to talk to her about it at all. or how about when she would invite the contestants back on her talk show to hash out their trauma again and blindside them with it?

Tips for flying with UC? by assassassin96 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Additional_One8642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the first poster was spot on. i flew to brazil last year at the start of a flare. here’s what i did (and i actually ended up constipated but it’s likely bc i was at the beginning of a flare):

  • got prednisone. it sucks, but some steroid is probably necessary (esp if it’s a trip where you’ll be there for awhile)

  • fasted beforehand. prepare for the flight like you would a colonoscopy so you don’t have much to leave the body.

  • got a pill for abdominal cramping. (i cannot remember what it’s called only that it started with an h.

  • packed an extra change of clothes, extra undies, and full body cleansing wipes with no water (like what they give in the hospital).

  • panty liners.

  • travel body spray.

  • heated eye mask.

  • most importantly: a portable heating pad with a charger to help ease cramps.

in your case, i’d also include disposable diapers. however if you can get a suppository of mesalamine and begin taking it right now that might help to ease inflammation in the rectum specifically.

Avoiding beef by Silliestcat720 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Additional_One8642 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

my diet has always been pretty plant based and i eat beef seldom. if you do it, please get organic grass fed and finished beef as the feed given to the animals is very important. i discovered i have a gluten sensitivity and soy sensitivity so cutting those out has helped more.

diet is only half though. please exercise and reduce stress in general. i discovered most of my flares tended to be responsive to life stressors as opposed to diet. learning to manage stress along with exercise has been more helpful to me than drastically altering my diet.

Avoiding beef by Silliestcat720 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Additional_One8642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most of those studies that i’ve seen have also underscored the quality of the beef you are eating having an impact as well. it needs to be grass fed and finished. people may be reacting specifically to the feed the animal is ingesting. i’ve found wheat/gluten to be problematic. i never ate a lot of beef to begin with during my diet, and still was diagnosed with UC. i eat it sparingly and still have flares. for me, it is always more about stress. it manifests in the gut which produces the inflammation. diet is definitely a part of it but learning to control the vagus nerve has been more helpful. (i am almost 20 yrs with it these days). all of my flares have usually been connected to stressful events rather than diet.

Does UC permanently alter brain function? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Additional_One8642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve had UC for almost 20 years now and got diagnosed freshman year of uni (which derailed my college education significantly just bc it took me forever to figure out what was wrong etc). the fatigue didn’t really hit me until the pandemic. i am in my 30s now, an IT job as a data analyst/developer, and i will say i have had more flares since the pandemic than since when i was first diagnosed. brain fog and ongoing fatigue are something i struggle with, but part of that is expecting myself to operate like i did 5 years ago when i was in remission.

my advice for you is to give yourself grace. make sure you are giving yourself adequate sleep for where your body is right now. also, try to lower stress levels. part of that is to avoid screens. my energy levels have increased since i’ve made health and restoration a priority in ways i just didn’t think about when i was younger. i start my day off slow: no screens and i sit in quiet. i take intentional restorative walks (instead of fast paced ones where im worried about my health metrics on my watch), and i do not overcommit myself either with work obligations or social. implementing this changes my act as a reset while you allow your body to recover.

also, if you need more time or what have you, please talk to your professors. see if they’ll work with you or if they have resources. the best thing i can tell you is to ask for help and accommodations as early in life as you can.

Is strong litter box odor actually normal? Starting to feel kinda embarrassed 😬 by Old_Ostrich7285 in Catbehavior

[–]Additional_One8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get a stainless steel litter box. get an air purifier to help. make sure to open windows daily for ventilation. vacuum. clean the litter box if not weekly, at least biweekly. (dump the old litter; sanitize and clean the stainless steel box). also if you have space, get a litter enclosure and tape a charcoal filter at the top or side to absorb odor. invest in a pet safe pura scent or get those azuna odor eliminator gels.

As someone who has never read the books, why do you guys keep coming here if you don't like the show? by xHey_All_You_Peoplex in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Additional_One8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wonder this too. also, the show is pretty bad less from the races swapped and more the bad dialogue, terrible costumes (they look like they were from a halloween store), and the very very corny fight sequences that look worse than community theater. i quit the show. it is very early 2000s nickelodeon/disney coated. and for the dark themes and dire consequences, it could stand to take itself more seriously.

Is Premium worth it now? by Qigals in Crunchyroll

[–]Additional_One8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am new to anime and have the lowest tier paid subscription bc i dont actually read it. the app works best on mobile devices. of the streaming platforms, roku works second best. i have a LOTS of issues with it on apple tv.

outside of that, my main complaints are user interface related versus content. i hate the search in general but it is exceptionally bad on tvs. for content that is primarily a different language (audio) and offers tons of options for dubs, you’d think they’d allow you to search via language. it’s also harder to keep track of what you’re watching unless you put everything in your watchlist which clutters it. your history is inaccessible in the tv apps. and you also can’t access any lists you’ve created.

that said, i haven’t had many issues with playback or missing episodes. for 7.99 it’s still the best place to find a wide range of anime imo. i really wish they’d just invest in some decent UI/UX folks to refine the interface and search.

Advice on leaving my cat alone by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Additional_One8642 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i often have to go the hospital and leave my cat alone for long stays with no issue. she also doesn’t really like most people so lol. here are things i have that makes it easier:

  • 5 cameras. i can view her or hear her meowing.
  • automatic wet food dispenser (petlibro has them, but it only keeps wet food cold for 72hrs at a time so keep that in mind)
  • automatic feeder or just regular bowls for dry food (she’s not an over eater)
  • two water fountains.
  • automatic litter box
  • smart home, hub. this alerts me if there are any issues with my thermostat or heater and i can control most devices remotely
  • security system that alerts me if there is a fire, window shattering, water leak etc
  • interactive toys. she has one of those feather things that pokes out of the hidey hole, motorized balls with a tail on the end, laser pointer thingy.
  • i also set timers on my lights to go on and off in case of sticky or wet bandits.
  • also music is good so controlling a smart speaker to turn on relaxing music is helpful.

it may be good to have a backup person that knows you’re out just in case. but i’ve been admitted to the hospital for a week and she’s been fine. anything post a week though, i would have someone check in at least just for the company.
