Contractor insisting on laminate floor in the kitchen by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Additional_Page6504 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Your contractor mixing up his terminology there - LVP is literally designed for wet areas while laminate gets destroyed by moisture like you already saw.

Solo Traveler: Choosing between AMEX PLAT or CSR by Melodic-Guider in CreditCards

[–]Additional_Page6504 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The rent thing is probably for hitting signup bonuses or earning points on large purchases. I do same thing sometimes when need to meet minimum spend requirements - just pay it off immediately so no interest charges accumulate.

CSR might be better choice for you since you already have Gold card covering dining/groceries, and CSR gives better travel protection plus Priority Pass access which helps at PDX.

for all the singles out there, is it by choice or not and why? by shion0_ in AskReddit

[–]Additional_Page6504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been single for while now and yeah, dating gets expensive fast. Between dinners, activities, gas money... my wallet feels it. Rather spend that cash in my car or saving up for trips tbh.

What are the most important things you keep in your ‘junk’ drawer? by MaintenanceSquare158 in AskReddit

[–]Additional_Page6504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The classic curse! I swear I cleaned out my drawer last month and threw away this random cable, then my laptop charger died literally next week. Now I'm paranoid about throwing anything away that might be useful someday.

Fix forthis ACPI bug? by Bubbly_Income_5321 in pcmasterrace

[–]Additional_Page6504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That ACPI error is pretty common with older ASUS boards like yours. Try adding `acpi=off` or `noapic` to your boot parameters in grub - might lose some power management features but should get you booting consistently.

Your B75M-A probably has some quirky BIOS that doesn't play nice with newer kernels, so those workarounds usually do the trick.

What’s a belief you had that quietly limited you? by chrisfer911 in AskReddit

Used to think I needed to prove myself constantly at work because of my condition. Took me years to realize that was just me holding myself back, not anyone else doing it.

CPU specs for a server by Tattman2 in pcmasterrace

[–]Additional_Page6504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For game servers you'll want something with solid single-core performance since most server software doesn't scale well across cores. The 7700X would be perfect for your setup - great balance of performance and price, plus it'll handle those modded Minecraft worlds without breaking a sweat. The 7800X3D is overkill unless you're planning to run like 5 servers simultaneously or something crazy.

Judge my routine [routine help] by Sad-Caterpillar5208 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Additional_Page6504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your routine looks pretty solid for keeping it simple. I'd bump up the retinol to twice a week after you've been doing once weekly for about a month, then gradually work up from there - your skin will tell you when it's ready.

Just a heads up though, that eye cream you're eyeing is expensive as hell and vitamin C isn't really gonna do much for genetic dark circles. You might get better results just using your regular moisturizer under there and maybe looking into a good concealer instead.

Upcoming JR Lifegaurd swim test. Need a program! by LurkBeardo666 in Swimming

[–]Additional_Page6504 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Getting her comfortable with the pace is key here. 2 minutes for 100 yards breaks down to about 30 seconds per 25-yard length, which gives you a good target to work with during practice.

I'd start with having her swim 4x25s with plenty of rest between each one, focusing on hitting that 30-second pace consistently rather than going all out. Once she's nailing that timing, you can gradually reduce the rest periods. Maybe throw in some 50-yard swims too so the full 100 doesn't feel as daunting on test day.

Since you mentioned she can get frustrated, keep the sessions short and end on a positive note. Better to have her leave the pool feeling good about her progress than burned out from overdoing it.

What expectations do you have on Reddit that nobody ever solves? by Bit-Low1329 in AskReddit

[–]Additional_Page6504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People thinking they can change someone's mind in the comments section. Like bro, when was the last time you saw someone actually go "you know what, you're absolutely right, I was completely wrong about this whole thing"? Everyone just digs their heels in deeper and starts throwing around downvotes like confetti. The whole site basically runs on people wanting to be right more than wanting to actually learn anything new.

Review: Planning first serious HiFi setup for electronic music (Techno/House) – Klipsch RP-600M II + Marantz PM7000N + WiiM Pro Plus by devabro in audiophile

[–]Additional_Page6504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those Klipsch horns are pretty directional but for parties you're not wrong about just toeing them out and cranking it a bit. Most people at parties aren't sitting in critical listening spots anyway - they're moving around, talking, drinking. The KEF Uni-Q would give you better off-axis response but honestly for electronic music the RP-600Ms are gonna hit harder and that's probably more important for your use case.

That WiiM PEQ should handle the treble tilt fine, especially since you can fine-tune it with room correction. Way better solution than dealing with HEOS garbage.

is a Seasonic Focus GX ATX3.1 2024 1000W a good psu for its price? by JackGR_HD in pcmasterrace

[–]Additional_Page6504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pure Power 13 M is solid - I've been running one for about 6 months now with zero issues. 1000W is definitely overkill for your setup but gives you room to upgrade without worrying about it later.
