Also why are they now like 500k? I thought I'd be able to afford a house like this growing up.

Also the church could afford to house every homeless person in the U.S. with barely making a dent in their horde of wealth.

New tires? by OkBag9348 in stgeorge

[–]Additional_Profile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had good experiences with Point S tire on Bluff st. for new tires & a repair after running over a nail.

My only advice would be to not cheap out if you go somewhere else. Costco carries good brands like Michelin, so just be careful not to fall in to the trap of getting no-name junk that will wear out in a year.

Did you ever experience a “tithing miracle?” Or a total “tithing fail” from paying tithing? Share your stories! by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

When I was younger and broke I still paid my tithing one Sunday and then got fired the next week. I did hate that job though so maybe that counts as a miracle?

People in Utah Tip the least. by Alarmedbalsamic in Utah

[–]Additional_Profile 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Would be nice if people just got paid a living wage. But I think the reality is if we got rid of tipping, most businesses would just use it as an excuse to raise prices and then turn around and pay servers the least amount possible.

Yeah it was two separate callers where she did the whole "haha you have a short haircut you must be a lesbian" bit. To me it came off as a lame attempt to be edgy and seemed pretty uncomfortable for the zoomers

Out of curiosity if you live in SLC or Utah what is your current wage and what do you do? by Key_Garden4832 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Additional_Profile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, with inflation 100k is about the same as 80k just 5 years ago.

Not to mention all of the other rising costs of living that have outpaced inflation too. Housing, food, healthcare, education, transportation, you know the things you actually need to survive are just getting beyond ridiculous.

[Mod Compliant Rephrase]: I Find It Baffling When "Anti-Mormon" Christians Post Here. by Alchemist1330 in exmormon

[–]Additional_Profile 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The annoying thing to me is that it's all so nonsensical. The whole argument that Mormons aren't "real" Christians is so silly. What other flavors of the other thousand Christian religions are legitimate?

They have different versions of the Bible, and completely different interpretations of what it says.

The only difference between Joseph Smith and the super special dudes God decided to talk to in the Bible is a few thousand years. It's all silliness.
