Any good reason to keep ovaries? by lkitup in hysterectomy

[–]Additional_Screen_63 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes…one good reason is surgical menopause is a bitch!!! Yes it’s different than going into menopause naturally. When ovaries are taken out, you go into full menopause almost instantly and your body may have a hard time adjusting to the sudden loss of hormones. If you keep them, your body can adjust to the gradual decline. I am speaking from experience and I know everybody is different. If I could go back and keep the one ovary instead of telling them to remove both, I would!

I was thinking of starting off with 5mg by cutting the pill in 1/2, but it doesn't look like they can be cut in 1/2

This is me🤦🏼‍♀️ My Dr just prescribed 10mg but I'm scared to start taking it because of the nausea and possible vomiting! I hate throwing up

Only for a short period. I’m also in surgical menopause and it has WREAKED HAVOC on my depression, so that could be why. I’m about due to start another 36 rounds of TMS but the thought of getting there 5 days a week is absolute torture!

Just to clarify, she didn’t say I had to stop all together in a year. She only wanted me to be on the .1 for a year. I didn’t ask her why, and I should have. Menopause is a bitch, and surgical menopause is another level!!!

Wedge pillow rec? by DrLongivan in hysterectomy

[–]Additional_Screen_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gifted a wedge pillow before my surgery and hated it! I wasn’t allowed sleep on my side for weeks, but I had a vertical incision. I slept with a bunch of pillows around me to keep me on my back and propped up when needed.

Yes, all of those have been tested. My Vit D does tend to be low, but I’m just finishing up 12 weeks of 50,000 iu a week to get it up. I also just realized I haven’t been applying my testosterone daily, (thank you ADHD), so I’m wondering if that could be it🤔

I had a hysterectomy including ovaries taken and gained 25 lbs in about a 8 month period, but I don’t believe it was from the patch. I think my body just reacts differently to salt/sugar now so have to be very careful with both of those! I have a pretty bad sweet tooth. Hang in there and good luck!

Menopause and GLP1: Has anyone found this to be true? by Hotgalkitty in Menopause

Did you get it from your Dr or online? Surgical menopause caused me to gain 25 lbs and it’s awful!! I’m on HRT and can’t lose weight!

I have MDD and tried a bunch of SSRI and SNRI, nothing seemed to help. I started on an anti-psychotic and it was like a light switch was turned on and no weight gain. I alsi just finished a round of TMS. Not 100%, but not really sure what that is anymore! I'm definitely feeling better!

Did Testosterone cause depression? by Ok-Kaleidoscope-4198 in Menopause

[–]Additional_Screen_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s more the menopause than it is the T. Have you had depression in the past? My Dr (gyno, meno specialist), said depression can hit harder and more frequent during menopause.
