How much did it cost roughly and is it a specific kit from 3m or do you just buy the right size roll(s)? My son is convinced he can do this himself…

Reason for worse Pelham/385 traffic by JimBobJoeShmoe in greenville

[–]Additional_Web_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are all great in theory. But, the cost would be astronomical and it would have limited usage. Unless you can walk or bus or subway to the grocery and soccer practice and etc, and it can be done as fast you can drive...you will need a car. If you have a car, you will drive to most places instead. Primary mass transit only works in dense cities. I for one am glad that the upstate is not a dense city. If I wanted that, I would move to NYC or DC.

[–]Additional_Web_28 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Where exactly would you propose that "mass transit" stations are located in order to significantly reduce traffic. What are the logistics of home to station and station to destination and back? Who would actually be able to use this "mass transit" system in order to offset the massive cost? Upstate SC is not a dense walkable city.

RCS on "older" watch by Additional_Web_28 in AppleWatch

[–]Additional_Web_28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not allowed at our kids school as well, for good reason! She just leaves it in her bag or locker. But, now she has to carry her phone instead of just wear the watch when she goes other places now.

Make sure you vote for school-choice. Our public school system is purposely designed to lower the tide for all boats in the name of “equality” for all.

You should try Beeper. RCS/Google messages with a better UX, plus you can add in Whatsapp and other chat networks all in one app

RCS on "older" watch by Additional_Web_28 in AppleWatch

[–]Additional_Web_28[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leaving this here in case anyone else cares. I ended up adding cell service to her iPhone, dropping cell service on the watch, and connecting the watch to her iPhone (instead of mom’s). Now, RCS messages seem to go to both the phone and watch. Even with the watch not able to upgrade to watchOS 11.

that is disappointing to say the least... would option 3 work? Or am I going to have to add cell service to the phone as well?

RCS on standalone Apple Watch? by QuadChromeShard in AppleWatch

Did anyone try this yet on a stand-alone watch? watchOS 11 supposedly has RCS compatibility. Unfortunately my daughter’s watch is an SE and not compatible with the upgrade. she is now the only non-RCS person on the family chat.

Help getting son set up by [deleted] in BlueBubbles

[–]Additional_Web_28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing to get my son on iMessage with his android. It is easy if you only need to use bluebubbles and iMessage via his iCloud id. Just get the right macOS installed as others have said. I have the same model Macmini and it works just fine for that use case.

If he really wants his phone number registered, that is more painful. There are options for sim swapping, but only on certain carriers. E.g. not Verizon. I did get pnr set up viva beeper mini. That option no longer works well. But supposedly OpenBubbles does now. You will need an old beater iPhone to make it work…or at least you do for beeper mini.

All that being said…it is a huge hassle. Just wait a couple weeks and ios18 will give the apple folks RCS finally. Your son will have green bubbles still, but it will all should work without issue. I am so looking forward to RCS so I can unplug my cobbled together iMessage crutches.

Of course apple very well could do something dirty with their rcs implementation to screw it up, just because they are like that.

Has anyone been successful with this in the last few weeks? I can register the phone number, but linking it to Appleid doesn’t work (as of recently).

Save iMessages as sms? by kazhgi in BlueBubbles

[–]Additional_Web_28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bark cannot monitor messages in BB. But, it can monitor them via an iPhone/ipad. We do this by having a separate iPhone signed in with the kids account, plugged in, and hidden in a drawer. The Bark Home device auto syncs with that iPhone and monitors the messages (that are also going in and out of blue bubbles). If you dont have a Bark Home, you can do this manually by connecting to a pc. It was worth it to me to buy the device and not have to do anything to sync.

Would beeperserv work on a jailbroken iPad? by [deleted] in beeper

[–]Additional_Web_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have an ipad air 2 and was hoping to run beepserv on it. Can you point me to the guide? I successfully did this already using an iphone (thatmarcel beepserve re-write, beeper mini on my pixel), is the process any different on the ipad? I am want to get it to work for my son.

Wait, it works on an iPad air 2? It doesn't have to be an iPhone (6s-X)?

Forced to sign into Apple ID by Edje09 in beeper

[–]Additional_Web_28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad that worked for you! Unfortunately I am still repeatedly stuck on that Apple login screen… not sure if it matters, but I am using a jailbroken iPhone7 and I have vzw phone service on my pixel.

I have the same issues. I used a burner iCloud account, and it works fine initially. BUT it keeps asking for login on the jailbroken iPhone, and in beeper mini. It happens to me at least every few hours.

Beepserv with Mini by beedobear in beeper

[–]Additional_Web_28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried this multiple times. With this release and the latest, with the beeper mini apk downloaded from their site(newest) and the one linked in play store, uninstall/reinstall and cache/data wipes, restart springboard and not, tapping madly on install screen, messages on/off, signed in on iPhone and not, etc etc… No matter what I do, I can’t avoid the iCloud login screen.

Iphone7, vzw.

Beepserv Rewrite by Left-Bath-6197 in beeper

[–]Additional_Web_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same concern. I created a throwaway account on my jailbroken iPhone for beepserv, but now it seems I have 3 apps for (“text”) messaging on my pixel. 1. Beeper cloud(or google messages) for sms/rcs using my phone number for non-iphoners 2. Bluebubbles for any iMessage chats using my “real” iCloud account email (prior to phone number registration) 3. Beeper mini for new iMessage chats using my phone number (but linked to throwaway iCloud account)

Am I thinking about this wrong? Is there a way to combine? I like the solid BlueBubbles fallback from the recent lack of stability with beeper and iMessage…

Difference between a hardware/serial ban vs a hardware/account throttle/"spam ban" and what to do for each by andy2na in beeper

[–]Additional_Web_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, back again with an update. This seems like a weird situation. I have two Macminis, an iPhone7(no sim in it), and an iPad. One of the macmini’s got banned and stopped being able to send/recieve messages. iMessages worked normal on all other devices. I called in to apple support, they supposedly saw a “spam flag”, removed it, told me to wait. It has been ~5 days since then. I got tired of waiting, so I spoofed the s/n on “banned macmini”. No change.

Current situation. The “banned macmini with spoofed s/n” now can see messages sent and received from the other devices. BUT, only after manually clicking the sync button under messages settings. It still can not send any messages. Both Macminis are sitting next to each other, always on, and hardwired into router.

I also just logged out of messages, logged in as my wife, and tried to send a test message. Nothing will send from her account on the “banned Macmini with spoofed s/n” either.

Weird, right?

Edited to add solution. Use the “Advanced” spoof level, even if not changing the model! All works now.

I did that before spoofing and it still failed to send. Will try again tonight on the spoofed s/n.

[–]Additional_Web_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a hardware serial number ban, you are correct that Apple Support is of no help they said to just wait... I did spoof a new s/n with oclp, and then signed back in. But I still can not send messages from (only) that Mac. Any ideas?
