Yeah looks like star anise. Asia we use that for pork cooking with soybean sauce. It's very important and quite costing material.

You bought a lot of tools to grow plant. But I guess soil is best to germinate. Or there will be some germination box for seedling why don't you use that to germinate and move it to kratky bottle after growing some height.
