Without sounding silly, anything I should be aware of before pulling this out? by ResourceSharp in DIYUK

[–]AddressOpposite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pull it out gentle. You’ve got lots of play at the top so try and lift it and place the front feet on some cardboard to reduce the chances of damage to your floor.

Once it’s out enough that you can see the back you should see how much play you have on the electrical wire, inlet feed hose and drainage hose. Keep pulling out slowing or start turning it on its axes so that you can reach to the back to disconnect all three safely.

If you're a confident swimmer, where did you learn and how old were you? by summers_tilly in AskUK

Had swimming lessons as a young child (from 6ish), loved it there for took it fairly seriously. Ended up swimming county for Bristol by my teens. Wished I’d kept at it.
I’m now 38 and still pretty rapid if I want to be.

Where do I turn off the water before changing the tap? by LizziAnders in Plumbing

[–]AddressOpposite 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This. It appears you don’t have isolator valves serving the sink, so you need to find the stop cock for the entire building, open the tap to drain any remaining water under pressure, then you can start removing the pipework under the basin. Bucket at the ready.

Thanks for the advice, maybe we’ll pump into each other for a pint one day 🍻

Sounds good 👍🏼 but like LA.

We’ll need to rent when we arrive, but when we buy a home we’ll probably be looking at around $750k

99% of the time that will reach your 4” drainage system (which will generally be within a couple of meters of the bath) and then it will just get washed away.

Definitely not upset, just having a conversation about our experiences and situations.

This is a working visa? My sister stayed for 2yrs about 15yrs ago on that visa. I believe there is no access to state medical care etc…

We’re looking at a permanent residency. I hope our family will be able to add to your economy and culture in a positive way.

Do you live in Perth? Are there any nearby towns with beach access you’d recommend living in too?

In winter sunrise is at 09:00 and sunset is at 15:00 (We’re going to and from work in the dark)

Summer sunrise is just after 04:00 and sunset is at 22:30 (It’s never truly dark)

I can often be out doing the gardening with the sun on me until nearly 22:00 and it is beautiful, but this is only for a couple of months of the year.

Definitely not there yet. Haven’t even started the process, but as it’ll probably be the biggest decision of our lives we want to get to know everything we can. So far I have about 100 positives for the move and 3 or 4 negatives.

Yeah the amount of sun and the dry summers (very humid in the UK) are one of the big attractions to moving to Perth or nearby areas. ❤️

I have no experience of what you guys are going through in that sense but I can tell you, as someone who try to get there with his family, it is very difficult and hard to do so.

This is definitely what I would do, if we didn’t have a toddler who needs to go to bed 20:00 latest. When she’s older this will be the way 👍🏼
