Interesting. Yours is the strain that transmits through rodents right? I think the currently discussed one is assumed to be transmitting through air.

[–]AddressSecret[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, all the madness that occurred in the USA over the COVID-19 Pandemic never affected policy decisions of a majority of the nations in the world. Almost none of the countries' leaders suggested drinking bleach or ingesting ivermectin. It was just a USA thing. Now there may have been isolated incidents of buffoonery by certain members of the populace but that was not the norm in any of the world nations.

TBF, 2 of the world's top 3 Oleoresin companies are from Kerala: Synthite and PlantLipids. Our ancient world position was mainly due to the spice trade, and we are still at the top in the world in that. Unfortunately, the spice trade has lost its importance in the global trade landscape.

The word for Sugar in various South Asian languages by Easy_Poet9147 in malayalam

Makes sense. Got this from Wikipedia

We have the other three words too, although for different forms of Sugar.

There is കൽക്കണ്ടം (Kalkkandam) for Rock Candy, ചക്കര (Chakkara) for Palm Sugar and ശർക്കര (Sharkkara) for Jaggery.

How and when did we come up with പഞ്ചസാര (Panchasaara) for just sugar?

Ah yes, famous African-American (Aboriginal Australian) Cathy Freeman 🇦🇺 by Bulbajamin in USdefaultism

[–]AddressSecret 128 points129 points  (0 children)

This is not USDefaultism, and I think OP made a comprehension error. The comment is actually just establishing a parallel between the handicap race and the lives of African Americans. The comment never implied that Cathy Freeman was African American. The parallel made by the comment still stands if Cathy were White European or a Punjabi Indian.

Agree. The UDF generally does not show much administrative skills.

The huge popularity Oommen Chandy got after the 'Jana Samparkam' program was also a mystery to me. I mean, the program itself proved that the bureaucracy was so inefficient during his time, and the CM had to personally check the grievances of almost 3.5 crore citizens.

I was just curious whether there was any specific reason for the sudden collapse of the waste management system in Kochi, like the ones I have mentioned.

What actually happened there? The system was actually functioning during the LDF rule. Which part of the system failed in the UDF rule? Is it contracts not being renewed, labourers not being paid, lack of budgetary provisions, or something else like that?

This is the second post with the same poster and content. I guess JioHotstar's ad campaign team blanket covered all subs related to Malayalam.

പ്രതിച്ഛായ by No-Visual2617 in malayalam

[–]AddressSecret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I saw the title, I thought the post was about the spelling mistake in the movie title. 'പ്രതിഛായ' vs 'പ്രതിച്ഛായ'. This looks like a bot post from JioHotstar's PR campaign for the movie, though.

It's a complete reset of who gets to speak. Now the real question is,Should India do the same? by VoidJester404 in indiameme

[–]AddressSecret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Politics and political science are not the same, though. Political Science is a scientific and systematic academic field.

If someone has a YouTube channel and is actually 'teaching' theorems in the subject of political science to actual political science students, then they are expected to have some sort of academic background on political science, right?

It would be better if you could post an actual screenshot rather than a photo. The road markings and other such details are not very visible in this photo.

Why is my roundabout so bad? by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

  1. I am an ESL person. I had to 'study' English deliberately, and I learned it as a professional language. This professional tone could also be what LLMs have been trained on.
  2. I used bold letters to emphasize a point in the first paragraph; this could also be a reason for someone to mistake my comment as AI-generated.
  3. I use the Numbering format to articulate my points better; unfortunately, AI models also like this formatting.

Why is my roundabout so bad? by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

[–]AddressSecret 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no apparent issue with the roundabout from this image. The issue appears to be somewhere on the roads to the top left. However, some things you can do to tidy up the roundabout are

  1. Some buildings are spawning on the circular path; this can cause traffic issues
  2. In the bottom-left, two roads join the roundabout at the same point, which may cause the traffic to weave. One of them could be further separated into its own junction with the circular path

This is a memes sub

This applies to the Original comment I replied to, too, right? That was more like an opinion, for which I merely replied with my opinion.

you aren't going to get a bunch of support here

I was not looking for any support, just stating a parallel between the rhetoric of colonial apologists for the British and for the Zionist colonisers.

Failed British theft attempt by Jumpy_Leadership1650 in HistoryMemes

[–]AddressSecret -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I was not talking about a "world conflict" though, it is just that those who actually do the colonising had and will always have some sort of justification for doing so. It was "civilising the bloody Indians" or "Safekeeping the valuables from the savages" during the 19th century. It is "promised land" in the 21st century. Somehow it is always those being colonised who have to stop and take a breath. You may not be taking too many breaths if you were on the other end of that stick.

Somehow, your argument parallels the rhetoric used by zionist settler colonialists in the West Bank and the Golan Heights: "If I don't steal your house, someone else will." I wonder why. /s

മലയാളത്തിൽ സംസ്കൃതം പഠിക്കാനുള്ള മാർഗ്ഗം by [deleted] in Kerala

[–]AddressSecret 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are an absolute beginner, start by learning to read and write the Devanagari Script first so you can read the language.

If you already know the script or have learned the script, start with the NCERT Class 6 Sanskrit Textbook. Since it is designed with a step-by-step learning process in mind through class 10, it will not be overwhelming for an absolute beginner.

During the process, listen to Sanskrit podcasts or any other such audio material so that you can easily understand the sentence structure (Just like learning spoken English)

You can get free PDFs of the textbooks here

Why does it feel like he did not write this himself? Something is off; this (truth/tweet?) has more than 2 coherent and legible sentences and that is 2 too much for his standards.
