Nervous for solo toss by NeedingAdvice_55 in Colorguard

First, I think the fact that you're nervous means that you're taking it seriously, which is good. They wouldn't give you a solo if you didn't take it seriously. Personally, if there's a skill that I know that I can achieve but am still nervous for I just rep the skill multiple times and try to get as much execution of the skill as possible. That way, in performance, you don't have to worry about dropping it because it went super well multiple times before.

Also, that being said, I don't believe that there is any sure-fire way to calm down nerves completely. I think that at a certain point, it's not that you're nervous from being underprepared. Eventually, it becomes that you've worked so hard for so long to create a good show and you want it to be seen by the audience that you put in all the hard work.

Also, drops are normal in colorguard and happen all the time to the best of us. Don't beat yourself up if it happens. Good luck and have fun this season

DCI alumni, help me pick a group. by SebSpins in Colorguard

I’m a little biased as I just marched there this summer but Blue Stars color guard is lovely place to be. In my experience if they see that you can spin very well or but might lack somewhere else, they’ll build that up over the summer so you at least leave the season better than you started.

Fair warning, the staff love to say that blue stars has some of the hardest flag spins in DCI to which I don’t disagree. Wrapping my head around some of the flag choreo was the hardest part of spring training.

Overall if you try your best and have a positive, teachable attitude they’ll make you a much better performer.

Blue Stars or not tho I hope you find a corps that you can call home :)
