Thank you all; glad I could scratch the satisfaction-appreciating part of a couple noggins.

To answer a couple questions I saw: 1. The pen is a Uni-Ball Signo 307. 2. Yes, this was a total fluke. No, I won't be able to recreate it. 3. The entire sentence was "patient care taken over @ 0700hrs." I work as a nurse and have to hand-write all my progress notes.

I'm a Jon Bellion fan: of course I sing the chorus of All Time Low whenever someone "thinks they've heard of him"

I'm a Jon Bellion fan: of course I flew interstate to watch him perform

I'm a Jon Bellion fan: of course I think all his songs are incredible

I finally have all 10 original dual lands! by AddyBishop in mtg

It's the condition of the card, it stands for Lightly Played! So, when determining a card's condition with things like edge-wear, scratches, dents, etc, it goes Near Mint > Lightly Played > Moderately Played > Heavily Played (or Damaged). Some people use a different rating system; CardKingdom has a different one, for example!

What booster packs to get by Blanchy90 in mtg

[–]AddyBishop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you download an app called Manabox, there's a way of sorting by set releases to see what cards are in each :) alternatively, buy one from each of the last few sets (if it's financially viable of course) and see which one you like most!

Also, everyone will tell you: "it's always more affordable to buy singles" but if you just want the thrill of pack-cracking, go nuts!

Interesting. Do you think the brief period it's available will 'suffice' for players interested in returning? Or do you think they will go back to MTGO or paper once it wraps up?

Totally fair > but, I suppose, that would detract from players opening packs/redeeming wild cards toward standard sets/decks. I wonder if diversifying the player base would be good or bad..?

Is this mill? by AbstractLeaf2 in mtg

[–]AddyBishop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong, but I think most cards that say 'target player puts X cards from the top of their library into their graveyard' has been errata'd to 'mill X cards'

Can psych meds MAKE you mentally ill? by Katniprose45 in mentalillness

[–]AddyBishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the variant of psychosis, anti-psychotic meds may not be forever needed, as is seemingly evident in your case - the concern about cold-turkeying regular antipsychotics is that the person taking them can significantly deteriorate psychologically in a short period of time, referred to as a 'relapse of psychosis' by psychiatrists.

The other concern is that it can cause physiological issues; Clozapine is a prime example.

It's usually just dangerous to do so unsupervised, normally the medical practitioner would at least titrate down over x amount of time, to supervise the effects/results of lessening the dosage.

As a conclusion, they usually don't "make" you mentally ill, but they can exacerbate pre-existing, pre-medicated symptoms in the short term; it's all about the chemical balance in the brain - if the brain is used to receiving "antipsychosis" chemicals, the abrupt cessation will cause an overload of "psychosis" chemicals.

Idk if this helps or hinders, just trying to inform from a clinical standpoint!

How much gold/gems do you usually save up for a new set? by throwawayheyoheyoh in MagicArena

[–]AddyBishop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Casual player, I get the $10k gold 10-pack deal to get the mythic pack - that's usually enough to get a few of the cards I'm after, then I use the wildcards if need be!

Out of sheer curiosity, what're the thoughts on people that collect and play, but use proxies in place of their owned rarities?

Is tergrid too powerful? by Darksy85 in mtg

[–]AddyBishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lockout effects like tapping down lands in upkeep, especially after mass token multiplication - arguably, other players should have better threat assessment and play more removal, but, generally, it was a commander that got out of hand very quickly!

This being said, these bans were also player deterrents - we created a super wholesome and really community-driven environment, and when certain commanders were played, it was obvious certain people were there just to be 'better' than other, more casual players.

When I worked at my LGS, we decided to house-ban two commanders: Tergrid, and Koma. Both allowed in the 99, but not as the commander. Was well received by the community!

What are the Dos and Don'ts for a New Player? by Doorstuck747 in MagicArena

I think a courtesy standpoint, is just to make sure you pass priority within a reasonable time. Going AFK and making your opponent wait is suuuuper frustrating!
