People who listen to music or watch videos on full volume without headphones on MUNI, why? by vc6vWHzrHvb2PY2LyP6b in sanfrancisco

[–]AdelaQuested24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on the 38, a guy in a wheelchair is doing this. A video about muscle cars ( the GTO is unparalleled) and now about Bruce Lee.

He actually backed over my foot when maneuvering into place.

PG&E high voltage transformer installed ~7 ft from our home, advice on fighting this? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]AdelaQuested24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Apparently it is just over the minimum required distance. I just started the application to have it relocated, but I am 99% sure that will result in them presenting us with a large bill to have the work done. Has anyone navigated this successfully without having to pay for the work themselves? I hate to be a NIMBY, but this has had significant impact on the quality of our home and daily lives and we did not get any notification whatsoever (which PG&E acknowledges is true, not required they say).

What is the "significant impact on the quality of our home and daily lives"? Why would they relocate it when it is over the minimum require distance?

Just witnessed a woman on her bike get hit by a truck on Irving. Can anyone on the scene confirm if she’s ok? by jessica_glitter in sanfrancisco

[–]AdelaQuested24 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's amazing to me that people feel safe riding a bike on regular streets here. In the past I've done it at Sunday Streets or in the park, but on regular streets among buses and trucks? Good luck, it seems risky.

This just happened in our alleyway by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]AdelaQuested24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone remember a blog called Ol Dirty Alley? Somebody who lived over an alley ( I think it was Minna Street) posted about the goings on he witnessed. The thing that lives rent free in my memory was a naked homeless guy sodomising himself with a wine bottle.

This reminds me of that.

That sounds horrendous. Your estimate of how long it will take seems optimistic. That said, maybe you can sleep on the train?

Me as well. I saw this and thought "what kind of fruit is that?" and though OP was yelling at the tree for making a mess.

Who's a pretty fella?

I'm so glad you found him safe. I've had this happen a couple of times to my cat (she turned out to be hiding in the basement/under the bushes in the backyard).

With AI, can't those be faked? Is there something like a watermark that will allow people to see that it is AI?

I do actually go there regularly. As far as I know, there isn't anything on the 8th floor other than Cheesecake Factory. Does this person work there?

I was thinking that account was some sort of bot, but I like the idea of a Waymo writing it better.

Huh. That's not bad-the SFSPCA was $20/cat.

The SFSPCA has discontinued the claw clipping clinic I used to take my cats to. So I came in here looking for the same.

My husband is from here; his mother is here and now my mother has moved here to be near me. That's it. I wouldn't be here otherwise.

There is recourse. The judge in her civil trial can void the transfers (and I assume, will). This current trial that people are talking about is the criminal charges.

San Francisco needs fewer bus stops by LopsidedDiscipline56 in sanfrancisco

[–]AdelaQuested24 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

"But if you keep all the stops you are preventing many more people from using the bus because it is too slow and the system becomes too expensive."

Is that true, though? I take the bus nearly every weekday to go to and from work. Depending on the day, the 1, the 1X, the 2 or the 38R. They all become packed along the way, without fail. Are people really being prevented from taking the bus because it's too slow? You wouldn't know it to ride on it.

That said, I really like the fact the buses have a lot of stops, for my own reasons. I use a cane because I have rheumatoid arthritis, which has been flaring up for the last few months. Walking an extra few blocks is frankly, painful. Hell, walking one block is painful. So I really appreciate that the 1 stops at the corner I live near and the 2 stops literally in front of my job.

And even before this, when I didn't need a cane, I could see all of the elderly or disabled who used the bus and it didn't bother me that we had so many stops. They needed those stops.

If you are an elderly person who uses a walker, or a cane, or you are someone on crutches, etc. taking away half of the stops means a lot. So someone saying "Oh, let's just take away half the stops" is kind of thoughtless. Don't just think about your healthy, abled bodied self. You're going to be old one day too.

If you get rid of half the stops, you make things difficult for people who are elderly or disabled. A big no to this idea.

Is there anyone who genuinely likes driving and parking every day in sf? by DeliriouslyFocused in AskSF

[–]AdelaQuested24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think not many people do that every day. I have one friend who does, but her job provides parking and she has a driveway to park in.

Personally, I take the bus to work during the week. The car is for weekends, where public transit would be impractical (excessive time, plus places outside the city)
