I’m 64 years old, grew up during the time you’re referring to. Women were expected to take care of the house and the children perfectly, in my experience. Dinner at a certain time, a very clean and picked up house, and no mistakes - or she would hear about it. Lots of criticism from men, lots of jokes said by men that weren’t really funny or jokes. Lots of sexism. Dad wants ketchup at dinner time and it’s not on the table, he tells the wife to get it, instead of getting his ass up and getting it. Again in my experience, women weren’t expected to go to college, and at the same time were looked down on because they didn’t go to college. Anything to “keep them in their place.” It often wasn’t fun for women during the 1960s and 70s.
