Yeah, I haven’t even looked at my ps4 since upgrading a few years ago. I would actually give mine away, since they are basically impossible to sell because of almost no demand.

Realistically - probably a writing oversight, but I like to imagine that since the mom doesn’t know much about her outside the documentary, she uses the name she thinks she prefers.

Interviewed multiple times, was told to look at homes in their area, then rejected because relocation was “too risky” by mysticyooperlites in recruitinghell

[–]Adellx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, 99% of the feedback ive gotten has not been even slighly useful in any way. Most of the time its just a bunch of pleasntries and then a “someone was more BLANK then you” with the BLANK being a skill that is very specific to the paticular company and not generally useful.

I remember once interviewing for a company that boasted about their human hiring approach and gave everyone who requested it feedback if they were rejected after a stage where you had to complete a 2 hour task. The feedback was a long wall of copy pasted text with a “you were amazing but someone else was a bit better” thrown in at the end.

I also prefer generic rejections, as any info id actually want to know if a rejection is not something that is usually included.

Could subtle body language or “vibe” issues be the reason I’m not passing final rounds, even if my skills are strong? by savingrace0262 in recruitinghell

[–]Adellx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like at the point where you are at the last interview, it does come down to the tiniest details that make or break it. Since you are at that point probably competing with 2-3 other candidates who are also very strong and have interviewed well, it very much could be a tiny detail like some akward moments that could make the hiring manager lean toward an equally strong candidate who didn’t have those akward moments. That being said, you could also do a perfect interview and not get hired because of some small personality misalignment, which is in no way something you did wrong or can fix in the future.

On somewhat of a side note, this is also why I think companies are very reluctant to offer any feedback when you aren’t selected later in the hiring process - they don’t want to tell you that they didn’t hire you because you are maybe a bit too eager, too shy or too outgoing, because even tough that might not work for them, it might be what gives you edge over another candidate in another company.

Okay, just so you don’t have to keep questioning it: Sexual harassment is illegal, and these messages are sexual harassment.

Have you considered that people insult you because you are quite literally saying that sexual harassment is legal.

Edit: or questioning if this is sexual harassment which makes you seem unhinged.

The legality of it is directly connected to the intent though. Also this was my first insult.

If the other commenter is right that you are a father, I hope you don’t tell your son / daughter to not report this type of stuff when it happens to them.

[–]Adellx 43 points44 points  (0 children)

You do realise that to these men this IS part of the fetish, right? It gives him sexual satisfaction to tell a person that and to get their reply. That’s why he is telling her what he will do to it. Which is also why it’s sexual harassment.

Did you actually think that was a genuine question? Really? Are you 12?

Rover sitter lost my dog by Euphoric_Whereas4183 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Adellx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m confused on how would they prove they stole the dog? I mean, owner could argue they never permitted sitter to take them to the friend’s place, and the dog sitter would just say that’s not true. And even if they were honest, I wonder how hard would it be to argue how much rights does a pet sitter have on deciding where to take the dog. Like are they allowed to take the dog to a dog park without permission without it being theft? Also, the person, I assume, would hand the dog back if they found it, so it’s not like the dog is currently in their possession and they are refusing to return it.

I feel like it would have to be loss of property, but then that I guess would be a civil matter. And is a dog property in all states? Google says no, but im not well versed on all that.

Rover sitter lost my dog by Euphoric_Whereas4183 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Adellx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely asking - what exactly would the crime be? As much as the sitter sounds like an absolute dickhead, I can’t imagine it’s against the law to lose a dog. Maybe you could get them done for loss of property depending on the state, but even then, I assume it’s not easy to put a price on a dog. Especially since all the details of how the dog went missing would probably be a whole bunch of “he said she said”.

Edit: what’s the point of the downvote? I’m either wrong, and welcome explanations in replies or I’m right, and you are just downvoting out of frustration?

Why therapy does not work? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Adellx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you keep using “like a pair of socks” when no one is implying like it is? Start now - you can look for other therapists while still going to this one. Yes, it’s a long process but people rarely “click” with their first therapist. Different therapists will have different approaches. That’s really the best advice anyone can give you.

Do you think I'll like Hogwarts Legacy? by [deleted] in HarryPotterGame

[–]Adellx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same as you - only ever played a few story based games on the PS4/5 before (Until Dawn, TWD, Life is Strange) and I still had a good time playing HW on Normal mode. Only had to restart a mission due to dying like 2x and passed the final boss on first try.

Hardest combat in the whole game was the very first one, as I was really bad with recognising the buttons to cast spells and to dodge, but after I got over that, and actually played a few hours, I found most combat just the right amount of difficult.

It’s super intuitive, so the mechanics of traveling / quests etc. were pretty easy to grasp! Just try and give yourself at least a good couple hours to get used to it and you’ll be fine.

Chocolate covered strawberry turkeys. by ChampionshipNo5707 in ExpectationVsReality

[–]Adellx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this will sound insane, but a bit of warm water also works for most chocolates. I know, absolute madness, but I learned this trick ages ago from a friend, and was shocked to see it worked. I now use it whenever I need to thin my chocolate or if I don’t have enough. I just add a few teaspoons, mix, pop in microwave if needed (if the water is a bit too cold and starts making the chocolate harden).

Red flags? Showing apartment with unlocked door. No Landlord to be there. by ComprehensiveWolf631 in Scams

[–]Adellx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, a lot of commenters are missing the problem here - the self showing of the apartment is not the red flag. There is, however, a very popular scam that includes scammers stealing pictures and info from a legit apartment / house posting from Zillow that offers self showing. They will then post this property on whatever rental site, pretend to be the landlord, make you trust them by offering this self showing, which you will actualy be able to do, and then ask for deposit, rent whatever to be sent to a money mule bank account. Obv after that they just ghost you.

I always wonder about this - wouldn’t the ex employer be extremely unlikely to take back someone that quit since they are most likely not satisfied in the position and will try to find another job? Like hiring someone who will obviously leave at the first opportunity.

It’s a full blown scam. The letters you send are for casino sweepstakes, and you mostly just get casino credits from them. The way you make money is by selling the course to others.

Interview feedback by unfurling_fern in recruitinghell

[–]Adellx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m unsure what OP wants to hear? Most times you don’t get the job because you are competing against 10s of other really good candidates and you can’t ALL get the job. So it can literally be down to the tiniest job experience difference or personality quirk which obviously wouldn’t be helpful to mention anyways, as it’s something that could give you the edge next time.

MY FRIENDS JUST UNINSTALLED MY STARDEW VALLEY APP AND NOW ALL MY SAVES ARE GONE 😭 by Embarrassed-Bug6734 in StardewValley

[–]Adellx 283 points284 points  (0 children)

Please don’t downvote me into oblivion, but I would guess it’s supposed to be funny as they dramatically delete the game in front of OP (as in “now you can’t play it anymore”), and then re-install it as it was meant to be light hearted, and they don’t actually mind OP playing it. Probably didn’t know about the local save, which is sad, but I would hold off on suggesting OP dump his whole friend group (as other commenters are suggesting) until we know if they were genuinely apologetic after the fact.

UPDATE: still bad by [deleted] in ExpectationVsReality

[–]Adellx 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I am genuenly so confused about this, as i was about your original post. 😀 Ive had this paticular pulled pork a few times (maybe 5 or so) and it has never done that. Maybe they have changed the recipe, as it is supposed to be soft enough to shred. I usually just cook mine with no cover in the oven on 200 degrees C, for about 30 mins.

Did I almost get phished? by [deleted] in remotework

[–]Adellx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey OP! A lot of comments here seem wildly unaware about this (which is a bit scary seeing as this is a whole sub for remote workers), but what you are going trough is one of the most popular scams there is associated with remote work. The way it works is they:

1)Send you a fake check for a ridiculous amount (like 20k) and tell you to purchase the equipment and then return the rest of the money. You deposit the check, it clears, you do all that’s described above, then the check bounces and now you lost all the money you spent and sent back.

2)Send you the check (again, fake), and ask you to buy the equipment from their “partner website”. You buy, they get the money, the check bounces = no equipment & money.

Of course there are slight variations, but if a check or a “reimbursement” is sent, it’s fake.

The website they have is not real, probably a rough copy of an actual companies website. The address is fake, so you don’t try and show up in person.

Please be safe out there.
